Halloween 2010

Have been looking through previous posts on how people have been celebrating/learning about Halloween and just wondered what everyone is upto this year if you are intending to celebrate it? Got any tips for parties or costume ideas...I'm toying with the idea of going as a cereal killer with cereal boxes covered in 'blood' and stabbed with a plastic knife, 'milk' moustache, wonder how many people will understand what I am though, and how many parents will just continue to think I'm odd haha

Hi Everyone, Hope you are all settling in well to school again. (Only 4 weeks until half term!!!) I was wondering if any of you wonderful people out there have any ideas for a Harvest Festival assembly. Our Foundation Stage Unit and Key Stage One always put on a bit of a show with a few songs etc for the elderly people near by. We are getting very tired of doing the same old thing year after year and wondered if anyone could inspire us. I'd be really grateful for any help Thank you in anticipation. Boogie x

As the end of term rushes up to meet us - just wondered if anyone had anything like this to end their year. In the past we have put on a show for the parents - highlighting our leavers and wishing them all well for the future. I have in mind something a little different this year but cannot come up with many ideas, I will discuss with staff and children next week, but just wondered if any of you wonderful folk have done some lovely ceremonies in the past.

A recent conversation with a Christian friend has provoked me to ask this question... Aside from all the 'easy' activities for children under 5 for Easter (you know, concentrating on eggs and chocolate!!) just how do you cover the Christian story of Easter with young children??? I just feel that, very often, my setting covers religious festivals from Islam, Judaism etc with sensitivity and respect, yet very often covers Christian festivals in a superficial way - even Christmas to some degree. What do you all think? And how do you do it?
