Oh... I just finished seeing the DVD of "Arctic Tale". I have cried so much . On one side you enjoy the beauty of all this wonderful nature and on the other side one's heart breaks seeing how it is in danger because of global warming. You can't miss seeing this movie. Has anyone else seen it? Arctic Tale Movie

Hi all - Happy new year! Am trying to get back into the swing of planning again and we have decided to go with the icy theme seeing as all the children were mad about snow and ice before christmas! I want to expand this by looking at maps of the world and the arctic and antarctic etc. I really want an interactive map I can use on the smart board and I am sure there must be something out there but for the life of me cant find anything. Do you lovely people have any ideas please? Ems x

Hello, I'm looking for extra inspiration. My next PE unit for my YR/1 class is dance and I'm hoping to do some snowy/wintery/icy dance to go with it. I'm looking for music to inspire them. I've come up with a few so far but would love more ideas. The ones I have so far... 'Winter' from Vivaldi's Four seasons 'The Forest of Fir Trees in Winter' and 'Waltz of the snowflakes' both from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker. I'd like to get some non-classical stuff in there if at all possible too. Thanks for any ideas.

Ice Planning

This week the children in my class have absolutely loved playing with the ice. Each night I have made sure there is plenty of water in the water trays and tuff spots and then its frozen solid the next day! We have poured on warm water and sprinkled on salt to see what happens, they have painted the icy ground with brushes dipped in warm water, they have smashed the ice up, we have found ice in different shapes frozen inside buckets and tyres, they have stamped on the ice in large crates then paddled in the water... I have left some toys in the water tonight hoping they will freeze into it then we can get them out on Monday! I would really like to extend their interest…

Hi all! This is the very first time I've done this so please forgive me if I do it all wrong! I'm about to do a mini topic on winter with my reception children and they want an ice palace for one of our roleplay areas. All lovely but my mind has gone blank when I try to think of ideas to incorporate writing into the area! Has anyone got any suggestions? Thank you!
