Guttering

Having read the following link http://www.communityplaythings.co.uk/c/Res...tm?format=print I was really inspired, especially as we have lots of boys this term and they all love the outdoor environment but are such explorers and active learners. I am really looking forward to outdoor play next week, rain or no rain (well mostly!). I'll let you know how the child initiated play develops. If the weather really proves a deterrant I'm thinking we could use it indoors with s…

Fair Trade

Our fruit basket today had some 'fair trade' bananas which started a discussion amongst the children about the sticker that was on there....to the staff's amazement one little girl said they were 'fair trade bananas from a hot place'. As we are child led....thought it would be quite a good item to work on and enhance their learning about other countries and foods etc. Just done a google and came up with some lovely pictures of other 'fair trade foods' and logo to make a display. My deputy and I have come up with quite a few ideas so I'm wondering if anyone e…

I am unlikely to get support from home and my children do not have a lot of english (with a few native speaker exceptions).....any ideas?! Thank you!!

Toys

Hi, after Christmas I always struggle with scientific enquiry through our 'Toys' topic. As we are an ISP school I know they will be a huge focus on this area as it was a whole school weakness. Can anyone help with some good ideas that I can use for any upcoming observations in any subject (particularly science) for this topic?

Hi all we are doing weight next week. W e have been on a visit to our local woods today and were going to use the objetcs next week on scales - heavier lighter etc.. The only problem is i think it going to be really boring and if i'm dreading doing it then it is certainly not going to inspire the children. Has anyone got any fun and exciting ideas to approach weighing heavier/lighter?
