Old Mcdonald

I've decided to have a loose mini topic in the 1-2 year room next week based around Old Mcdonald. I bassed this on some recent observations, particulary for one child, who loves the rhyme. Every time it comes on, he atempts to sing it, especially the ee-eye-ee-eye-o bit!!! The whole group like it when we make the animal sounds etc. Anyway, I have been racking my brains to come up with some things for them to do, so far I've got putting hay/straw etc in the tray with the farm animals etc. Um and there i stop!!! so any great ideas out there please!!!!

Has anyone any ideas for extending work with playdough? We've got the usual cutters, rolling pins and scissors, but that becomes a bit boring after a while. Anita

Story Sacks

Hello! I have been having a nose on ebay for story sacks as I thought they might be a good idea to use with the children during my struggle with circle time . What are your honest opinions on them? Do you find them useful? I thought about making my own, but my Mum always told me that learning to sew would damage my street cred so I have never learned. My Mum, bless her can't sew to save her life... she stapled the hems on a pair of curtains to hang in the front room when we were little, but I digress... How difficult would it be to make my own and where would I get the resources to fill them with? Thanks!

I'm doing the topic of Austrailia within the next couple of weeks, and stuck for ideas for our planning. We have already decided upon a jungle theme within the role play area and the small imaginative with bugs and lizards and magnifyers etc Just wondered if anyone had any creative ideas, things for water tray etc? Thank you Emma
