Hi Our children have asked for a spaceship role play area with aliens next (they love toy story!) so we are thinking of using the topic of Space and covering rockets, aliens, planets etc. after half term. We are going to use the stories whatever next, aliens love underpants and other space stories We would like a role play space station and we have a rocket shaped pop up tent. Any ideas or pictures to help us with ideas for this would be great! We thought of making planets using different painting techniques, particularly for the younger children. We thought of marbling, bubble blowing, marble rolling. Any ideas on techniques that work well? Also any …

Cycles or bi-cycles?
by Guest- 0 replies

We have a whole school Science Week coming up in June. The theme is 'Cycles'. Here in Foundation stage we have slightly blown it already by observing our caterpillars turn into butterflies and growing cress and sunflowers this half term. I've considered human life cycles but am not blown away by that. So I'm wondering whether to think laterally and deal with bicycles. I thought of - The Jolly Postman, Mrs Armitage on Wheels, designing our own bikes with special features, parts of a bike, sketching, having a bike day, journeys and maps, bike/road safety, weaving around spokes (where can I get wheels for free - my son won't be very impressed if I borrow his!) …

We are acting out The very hungry caterpillar for our leavers concert in July. Does anyone have any good ideas for songs that we could incorporate throughout the story, including any pop songs. Thanks

Our children have shown a big interest in animals (all types including birds, wild animals and pets!). We have decided to follow this interest after the easter holidays and are going to set up a role play zoo. Has anyone got any brilliant ideas for adult led activities we could do linked to animals? My mind seems to have gone into holiday mode already!

Pre-historic activities

We are planning a trip to see The Croods during the school holidays and I want to theme the week around this. I am planning activities for 4-11 year olds but really want to avoid dinosaurs as they weren't around at the same time. So far I have thought of cave painting (think Lascaux) , baking soda volcanos, making caves in our small world with rocks, fossil paining, Mammoth models with lots of wool. There are lots of colouring activities on the Croods website but I really want to do something largescale as well. I may also take them to the local museum where there is a lifesize wooly mammoth (if time allows)

Hi all, Our children have asked us to have a zoo at pre-school for the role play area. Any ideas? We are a total packaway setting so needs to be easy to put up and away each day. Any ideas are really welcome! :1b
