Hi I am a new user, have been on as a visitor to the website for a while and really glad I have subsribed. I wonder if anyone could give me some advice regarding planning for the first two weeks in a foundation class. The children are coming in over two weeks to do mornings and afternoons and i wondered if anyone had any planning formats they use specifically for this period or whether it is free choice in and around the areas of provision with lots of pshe?! Also i have read that fellow practitioners use a combined lit and num plan, would anyone have a copy for me to peep at? thanking you charlotte

Hello everyone, I've just set up a Foundation Stage Unit in my school. We are kicking off the new academic year with lots of new themes. One of the new ones we have decided on is the topic of bears. Please, please, please could someone send me a copy of their medium term planning of bears to cover the age range 3-5. We want to make the first term really exciting for the children. Thank you soooooooooooooo much. Boogie

Can anyone suggest any pieces of music that the children could listen to, that could be described as happy or sad music? We shall be talking about emotions in our topic on "Ourselves". Anita

This will be the first time I will have welcomed the new children to the Nursery in September. Does anyone have any tips for me. I will want them to settle in gently and allow them to take in what happens during a morning routine. I have set up schedules for them to see and would like to do the topic 'Ourselves'. Hopefully this will encourage them to talk about themselves and their families. I would welcome any ideas for my planning. Karen

I've gone through the usual painting activities with the children (printing with a variety of objects and body parts , sponge painting, with string, mirrror painting, bubble painting, with marbles, colour washes over crayon, etc.) Frankly I'm getting bored with the same old things and wondered if any of you had any inspired new ideas for me.

This is me being really lazy...... For Monday I need some ideas for creative activities please. I've got pictures, info, The Bad Tempered Ladybird story, etc - I would like to do something creative. In the past the children have made 2D ladybirds on leaves and counted how many spots, that kind of thing but I was hoping to do a week on them and haven't done anything yet. I've known about this week for ages but just haven't got round to it ..... been really busy. Please....any ideas? Sue J
