Colouring Water?
by Guest- 14 replies

Apart from using food colouring, does any one know of other ways of colouring water. Am doing an activity making potions from Snow White and the 7 dwarfs, and want to use coloured water for the children to mix up and combine. Using different containers, bottles etc. I'm a bit worried about food colouring dying their hands!! Any more ideas would be great, and other things to in the water. Thank you.

Hi, Does anyone have any good ideas for a travel agents role play area?

Hi again As no one replied to my question about Slime in the discussion on playdough, thought I would start it as a new topic. Surely someone else knows of this fascinating stuff? Perhaps you know it by another name? It is made with PVA glue, warm water, glycerine and borax. I am now having difficulty finding borax, Boots used to stock it, but no longer do so. Do you know where it can be obtained? For those who haven't tried it, when successfully made, it has a thick jelly like consistency, it can be rolled into balls, and will then it bounce; it will stretch, and this can be a great fascination. When left it gradually returns to a smooth flat pancake, and is tempti…

Fresh Ideas For A Topic Theme....
by Guest- 20 replies

We are just completing our 2nd time round our 2 year planning cycle and are ripe for a change for the Summer Term. We've done the usual and this time 2 years ago we had a theme of Kings & Queens for Jubilee which is obviously not appropriate. Does anyone have any new ideas which would appeal to 3 to 5 year olds. Did wonder about minibeasts again but we never seem to have much luck with timing it right to find the beasties! Thank you!

Leaving Pre-school
by Guest- 7 replies

Can anyone help? I am looking for a leaving rhyme, poem or verse of somekind that we can put in a card to our children when they move on up 'big' school. It is going to be quite a sad time for all of us, as we will not be going back in September after the summer break. We have occupied our current pre-school for over 30 years, but unfortunately our local council have said we will no longer be able to use the hall due to the state of repair. I would be very grateful of any suggestions for a nice poem, we could use. Mermaid

We would like to encourage our children to tidy up by introducing a song that we could play on cd each day. Does anyone have any ideas of a short, catchy song, so far we have thought of 'whistle while you work'

Animals Topic

Hi all, Our topic in reception for Summer 1 will be Animals. I am wondering how best to organise this. I had thought of splitting it off into different 'chunks'. Firstly pet, then farm animals, zoo/wild animals and then maybe water/sea creatures, possibly baby animals - animals in stories?? However I'm not really sure whether this is the best way round. If anyone else has done this topic and has any ideas - either for organising it into a manageable topic or for any activities etc. that worked well - I'd love to hear them. We will be opening a pet's shop and having a vet's surgery for our role play areas. We're also visiting a local farm. Looking forward…
