I have just found quite a good site if anybody is celebrating Chinese New Year next week. It is www.chinapage.com/newyearhtml. It gives you each of the animals in Chinese writing and how each is said in Chinese. There are some other interesting bits on there also. Linda

Having read all the postings in this particular area it is interesting to see how many people are doing travel this term. I was wondering-does everybody work to a topic or are there some settings that do something different? If you do what do you do? Linda

Our topic after Christmas is going to be patterns. Our emphais will be on patterns in nature, animals, insects etc., using books like Elmer and the Bad Tempered Ladybird. Does anybody have any ideas of what else we can do? Thanks Linda

Hi Josie, here are some ideas I have come across: * Introduce teddy to the group, saying he is very shy and a little bit lonely. How can we help him feel better? * Take photos of teddy (digital camera if poss) with different groups of children, and in different places in the nursery, e.g. playing in the sand, doing a puzzle, etc. and use later for discussion and display. * Pack teddy an overnight bag. Put some daft things in it to elicit discussion! * Each child takes it in turns to take teddy home.Include a notebook and encourage parents to write a couple of sentences about what teddy did at their house that evening. The children can add a picture. Its amazing what t…

Artists' Work
by Guest- 1 reply

Has anyone used artists' work with children in nursery or reception? I have to lead, well actually I offered to do, a twilight INSET on using artists with children. This is fine and I use them a lot, but I have to cover a range of Key Stages 1 - 3 and being a Special School our first class is more like a nursery class. Being as you're such a friendly lot, I thought you may be able to help! Many thanks
