Which is a result in its self! But I've now lost my one of my 2 general members (as she's now the chair!) Anyway my question is, as she was on committee before (and had crb through Ofsted), Do I (we) have to do anything? as basically she's just swopped roles

I am looking to change my preschool constitution from PLA to another that enables staff to be on the committee and not be too demanding on how many parents should be on there too. I find it impossible to get parents to join the committee, even when I threaten them with closure, so am looking to put down in writing that a certain number of parents, staff and 'outside' people make up the committee. I do realise we need parents input but its so hard to get any to sign up,the age old problem. Has anyone changed their constitution from the PLA and is willing to share with me? Time is running out and the chair and treasurer (who are parents) have as usual left everything to me t…

Hello lovely forum members! It's been brought to my attention tonight by a friend and staff member at the playgroup where I am a committee member that a complaint was filed with our supervisor last week (I haven't been informed yet, hoping the Chair has or there will be problems tomorrow...) Anyway, it's NOT a complaint about the playgroup and the fist time I've ever come across this issue, which is why I am posting on here. The complaint is from a parent who witnessed a carer smacking a child in the cloakroom at collection time. (According to my friend) the complainant told the supervisor as soon as it happened and was asked to put it in writing, which she duly did, …

Meeting minutes?
by Guest- 3 replies

I was wondering if anyone was willing to share a copy of their committee meeting minutes - I don't feel ours are as useful as they could be, we have no matters arising section so its easy to lose track of what needs to be followed up on. Would be very grateful if anyone was willing to share so I can see how other provisions present their minutes. Our minutes can be seen at our website www.dauxwood.co.uk under committee>agendas & minutes>minutes archive Christine

Hi everyone, it's been a while since I've written on here but I'm hoping someone might be able to help me. We are a committee run setting who are also struggling for members. I just wanted to ask if anyone knows the legal requirement for a committee... I have researched but am struggling to find anything conclusive. I know you need a Chair, Treasurer and Secretary but is there a regulation to adhere to regarding who they are? (eg. parents, community etc). We are just trying to unpick what we need to meet requirements rather than 'best practice'. Any advice welcome... Thanks x

I feel we need to get back to basics with committee life things have got a little 'free' I suppose with a few staff members coming from committee originally and we just get on and do things - primarily because we don't really have a committee!! So can anyone share their Agenda template please? also do you send out the agenda just to committee people? I'm thinking about sending it out to all parents as this might give them more of an insight into what happens at a meeting - we've not done this before, your thoughts please :1b

Hi all I just wanted to ask what I think it probably an obvious question but I guess its desperation that makes me ask any way. I have a horrible feeling that my committee may all step down, we at the moment have a chair who is working so hard doing all three officer roles as no one else will, while she is trying hard to get others to take them on. She sent and email in desperation saying she needs help and is feeling unsupported and already (within hours) two people have taken offence one stepping down and planning to withdraw her child. If the whole committee step down do we have to shut?? or are we given some time to try and get together another committee? I am fe…

...or lack of. We have our AGM tomorrow and ALL our current officers are standing down, all off to school. I honestly cant see us getting more than the odd person coming forward to take their place. Does anyone know what we would do if this happened? Every year we wonder will we get enough to stand but this year is dire, really bad, so I looked at our constitution which says the committee shall consist of 4 officers and no less than six members in total. I know, our current committee can re stand and/or staff could become committee but neither of these are really the option i wish to take- besides i dont think staff can be officers. So what have you all done if y…

Sorry if this has already been brought up.. I have tried to search the item but nothing came up. Just wondering how settings are going about paying for the new DBS checks? Are you as a setting paying for them or are the employees paying from them? Our committee have agreed to pay for all employees checks and any new employees will be paid for but if they leave within the 6 months probation period they have to pay the money back to the pre-school. I have also seen that individuals can take their current check to another employer if they are registered with the DBS update service. Its good practice to get them updated and checked every three years... will …
