Feeling confused

Hello, I am feeling unclear about the organisation of the pre-school that my son attends. I am wondering if anyone could share some knowledge and clarification re the business structure our pre-school is running under. The pre-school changed to a limited company with charity status and is run by a board of trustees. However I have been approached to become a committee member for the pre-school. I thought that the board of directors were in effect the committee ? Why would more committee members be needed. Is this because of the rules within the pre-school memorandum and articles/ governing document I think it is a PLA one. Sorry for sounding so vague, but I would we…

Hi I am meeting with our fragmented committee to discuss the never ending topic of how to recruit new committee members. I am pushing for our preschool to be a community interest company, but there is one member who is reluctant to release control. I was wondering if anyone has a DETAILED list of committee member roles and responsibilities as it seems what I can find is rather scratchy and left to interpretation for the most part - as with most things - as to their level of in put. I am now at the point that if we are to remain committee, then I will relinquish all the things I do back to them - rather than be a committee run preschool in name only and I get to …

Hi any advice please. In my setting on the committee its always been known that staff members was not aloud to join although the preschool leader is on the committee and has a big say in what she wants to happen in my eyes it should the committee that makes the decisions. Now that the committee has lost a lot of members they have asked one of the staff to join as she has a child in the setting she is also the deputy. in my eyes this is a conflict of interests and its like 1 rule for 1 and 1 for another.

Not sure if anybody is still following this. Just a quick update from my last thread... Let me first explain a little more: The building we occupy and rent a room from is a council building. The committee have to adhere to strict guidelines in order to run the centre. The community association is given a lease from the council to run the centre and in this lease are the usual "the council are not liable.." terms and conditions. Basically to protect themselves (the council) So we have had a projector attached to the ceiling with the obvious wires fastened up leading to the pc and power point required. This has been in place for over 3 years, but we recently had to …

Community Centre Committee Advice?

Hi again. We run our nursery from a community centre, which obviously has a committee, which is also a charity status? The Community Association (committee) basically run the community centre. I am now a newly elected member of the commiittee, and we had our 1st committee meeting last night. During this meeting i read the Constitution, Code of Coduct, and was asked to sign a confidentiality form so i am not allowed to discuss contents or share minutes of the meeting. It is not in the constitution or the code of conduct about the confidentiality aggreement, and i had many questions as to why i need to sign this, when i was under the assumption a community centre should…

Hello We have a new committee and the Treasurer is already struggling. I still do all the FEEE claims and milk claims, and she does the invoices to parents and sends in the timesheets which I complete to a lady that does our wages. I transfer the money to the staff. She has just propsed via e-mail to the rest of the commmittee (and me) that she is doing the invoices and wages late at night and making mistakes, so she would like a free session for her 2 year old every half term to complete them as she says it takes her several hours to complete them. In fact she did the wages this morning and mine are completely wrong! Until recently I had done all the invoices…

Hi. I am hoping someone can help me with this little query! From September our maintained nursery will close and the whole nursery day will run "privately" Currently only the afternoon sessions are private. We have just been told that the private sessions were never set up properly! We have been running since 2007 and have had an Ofsted for just the private sessions (may 2008) and then 3 Ofsted inspections where we were inspected as part of the school because legislation changed and because we were run by the school we didn't need separate registration or inspection any longer. These were Feb 2009, October 2011 and October 2012. ( school was in notice to…

Can a committee member use preschool money to pay for courses she is attending. They are related to child care however the staff feel they could have attended them as they are in the setting every day and the money she is spending could be used else where. Not sure where we stand or how to deal with this. Any advice please.
