Hi all Well I am the chair of the committee of my out of school club. Starting to feel like Im doing things all by myself.....have no issue with treasurer (lots on), secretary (does a fair bit) and then there are the rest. They just come to meetings, give their opinions and seem to do little else. At the moment we are trying to sort out visitors/workshops for the holiday club ie football coaching, dance etc etc. Have emailed if we can all look into it, twice...no reply from anyone..this was discussed at the meeting 2 weeks ago. I am doing it. I have emailed one new member (well she isnt really but we are re-submitting all her details to OFSTED as they were lost last…

Who To Inform
by Guest Spiral- 2 replies

I have had a discussion with the Chair and they feel they've taken on too much. Thereofre they'd rather be on the committee. I can see why. My question is, who do I have to inform when this happens? I think it's Ofsted, the Charity commission and my Local Authority, but is that the correct assumption? Thank you, Spiral

Ok had AGM last night..got one new member nobody left just a reshuffle witch included chair stepping down to general member and me going to chair. So. got all the bumpf last night that comes with being chair. Sorted all out and noticed that there were no suitability letters for 3 current members of committee from OFSTED. Was aware of 2 who were new last year...they have sent there docs off but nothing sent back to them from OFSTED. Third one been on committee years. Will ask chair later if she has any other info. Question is this..have given new member EY2 and other 2 members to do. Not sure if last year chair did EY3 also but I have done one to include new memb…

Reforms To Committee Leadership?
by Guest Spiral- 1 follower

I was just wondering whether the prposed adjustments to the EYFS would enable committee leadership to firm up and devlop further. It's just a thought, but I've recently been discussing a great many issues with colleagues from other settings within our County and it seems a number of us have similar problems (mostly to do with gaining committee members, retaining them once they know the weight of the roles as well as the committee supporting us, the staff). Through these issues, it does seem that the managers are willing to take on many of the responsibilities as they are aware of the importance of them being done well and fast ( for instance it was so daunting whe…

Hi Well had school club AGM last night. Still the same committee but a few changes round. Chair has stepped down and I have taken over (she can now sigh with relief that it will be myself for suitable person interview!!). Old chair and myself done alot over last year so she said at agm that we should consider giving each member a responsibility area. Sounds good to me..that way the load is spread around a bit more. Does any other committee do this? Any ideas about areas? Thanks

Hi all On the committee of our school club. We are registered for 48 children and registration says provides care in the following areas, main hall, library area, classroom with kitchenette, early year's classroom, adjacent playgrounds and associated facilities (Early Years Register, compulsory part of the Childcare Register, voluntary part of the Childcare Register The thing is the school itself uses the hall approx 3 times per week so we dont get to use it!. This has been the case every since registration ie over 10yrs! Not so bad as when nice weather we go to the park or use outside playground. Is a problem if it rains. We have to split club into the 3 rooms. H…

by Guest- 9 replies

Well I did think things were going too well! New manager has been in place since Dec. Got one staff that is pregnant, a deputy that should have been manager but stepped down as frightened of OFSTED, another that I have been asking and asking to do safeguarding course and is avoiding at all costs and they are all 21 yrs old. Got school cook (who is unqualified but fab with the kids etc) as bank staff who intially loved doing 1 session per week but now wants to resign!!! She says new manager is very money orientated, manager has said to other staff that she doesnt need to do things as deputy does it all anyway and cook says that they are all really lazy, dont interact wit…

Paying Bank Holidays?
by Guest- 7 replies

Hi all, Next term we not only have the 3 bank holidays but we are also a polling station so will have to close that day too. Our LEA will continue to pay us funding on these days, and it's highly unlikely that our parents will expect us to open any extra days at the end of term (they won't even realise it's an option I suspect!). We will lose about £200 in fees in total from unfunded children. What I'm wondering is whether we should/have to pay staff for these bank holidays? They already get the statutory entitlment, which is 5.6 weeks (this can include bank holidays). So, if we do pay them, this would be an additional payment on top of their holiday pay. Norm…

Our Wonderful Leader
by Guest- 4 replies

We had a wonderful parent workshop today and I have just sent our leader a message of praise as she is so dedicated to our setting. She does so much above and beyond what she has to do, it is marvellous. It occurs to me that leaders very rarely get praised as they have to manage the staff and only have volunteer committee members in theory helping run the setting (although as we know not always in practice!) What wonderful things has your leader done recently?
