Hi Is anyone on one of these? My sons out of chool club is asking for new members for their AGM ? Anybody got any experience of this? Must admit have no idea who the current members are so not a good start eh? OFSTED due. As a pre-school assistant they once tried to get me to be emergency bank staff for the holiday club on a day when their usual staff were unable to do it (eventually found a staff member). Any info, advice appreciated

I havent come across one of these but would anyone have one? I presume it will be a run down of how the committee run, the roles and responsibilities of the trustees and the committee as a whole. Its not a requirement but its been mentioned on a form from the City. Although if I knew what it was for it would help. I'm drowning in requests for bits of paper and doing a darn good job of not coming up with the goods lately

Are you going to be extending to 15 hour entitlement? If so, how are your staff feeling about the extra 1/2 hour work?

Paying Employees To Attend Meetings

We have a new committee and they are considering all sorts of amazing things -applying for funds for additions to the outside area too! One of the things they have been asking is whether the staff team would like to come along to their meetings. I'm in two minds, but then two of the team asked whether they would be paid and I can't remember whether this is allowable (I'm now worried about the complications), help please, any thoughts? Spiral

I was wondering how many charity run pre-schools pay their staff when they are on training courses. A few years back we used to be able to claim funding from Early Years which was passed onto staff, but that ran out along time ago.

Am I Over Reacting?
by Guest- 8 replies

I'm really p****d off about something, but I wonder if I'm being too dramatic and over reacting? I've previously explained to staff/fund raising committee that I think it's really unprofessional to do fund raising events in session time. They had a meeting last night (while I was at an outdoor learning meeting in my own b****y free time) and basically just went ahead and did it anyway. I've asked my leader what she thinks, as I feel it should be her decision, but she doesn't have a strong opinion either way. I guess it puts her on the spot, because she doesn't want to upset anyone, especially those who fund raise. But given all I've done for the setting as Chai…

How To Put Your Foot Down?
by Guest- 12 replies

There are a couple of things that I need to get firm about with staff next term. I don't have a particular problem with doing this (I don't really worry about being 'liked'!) but at the same time I don't want to alienate staff. I'm determined that our setting needs to get more professional, which means things like sticking to policies (freeflow one in particular), good time keeping, proper budgeting, less gossiping, etc. Does anyone have any thoughts on how best to approach these things?

Drowning In Paperwork
by Guest- 6 replies

Hi, this is just a bit of a moan really. I sometimes feel like I am just drowning in bits of paper related to preschool. Given that I do this job for free, it is surprisingly involved. I've just had to fill out yet another EY2 because according to the latest bits of paper received from the LEA today, I have to be the nominated person rather than our leader. Quite why they couldn't just change that over on the phone, I don't know. I do sometimes wonder how they can expect people to do so much work for free. It's a good thing I am quite quiet at the moment with my usual work or I just wouldn't be able to cope with it. I'm quite happy to do the fun bits, like br…
