Hi all i am the manager of a preschool / nominated person / on committee. I have asked to resign from my role on the committee as if i object to any of their decisions they leave me feeling excluded from the team. The chairperson has said that i can't resign as they need me to be nominated person. Does anyone have any experience of this. Can they make me continue in my voluntary role alongside my paid role?

I have recently taken over as Manager and am learning as I go. It would be a great help if some one could clarify about the EY2 forms for me? I have a parent wanting to join our Committee. I have got her to filled in all paper work, her DBS is completed and she has filled out the EY2 form. Do I send the form by post? enter it online on the online Ofsted website? And how long does it take? does it come back to me or her? Any help would be great! Thank- you!

We have just had an EGM to decide whether our pre-school should be taken under the 'umbrella' of the local school federation. The reason for this change is that I as pre-school leader am leaving at the end of the summer term and we have struggled recently to get a committee together. We are full, but have a lot of disinterested parents! At the EGM this week the proposal was put to the vote. No parents were present (did I mention how disinterested they are?!) just staff and committee members. All the committee members voted in favour but none of the staff at which point the chair said "Well only committee and parents can vote anyway so it doesn't matter what staff th…

This is actually a personal question relating to the setting that my child attends. As a parent I have been notified that the pre-school has received a proposal from the local primary to "join up with the School and become part of the School". Although the building is on the school grounds, the pre-school is currently a CIO and completely independently run to the school. We have an EGM soon to vote on the matter and I'm looking for some input of the pros/cons/questions to ask so that I can make an informed vote. I would be extremely grateful for any input you can give - whether you've gone through a similar change or have considered and rejected this in the past.…

Hi all! I am almost 3 months in to my new manager role of a committee run pre-school. We are looking to recruit but wondered whether it was mine or the chairs responsibility to lead this? Who would post adverts? Contact candidates? Write interview questions?

Sorry me again. Are your staff required to attend the AGM. It states in our staff contracts they they must attend. We have a new member of staff with young children and she has said she would struggle to make the meeting as it's often late evening and she doesn't have childcare. Obviously her contract states she must attend along with the others. I don't want to rock the boat with any of the staff so thinking of saying to them all your are invited and encouraged to attend and maybe change the wording in their contract. I think it's useful for staff to attend but not sure they should me made to attend. Thoughts?

Hi all, having read the governing doc 2011 i saw this point. Has anybody got an example of an agreement that you use b) Any services which are provided by a Member who is a paid employee to the Pre-school must be the subject of a written agreement between the individual and the Pre-school on such terms as are considered by the Committee to be in the interests of the Pre-school and have been approved by a resolution of the Committee;

Does any one have or know where I can look for a starting point for job descriptions of in-house jobs such as Senco, Health and Safety, D.S.L. and Behaviour Management. I just want to clarify with staff responsible what is expected of them in undertaking these additional roles.

Please can someone confirm that the most up to date PLA constitution is the 2011 one. Also where can I look to find out which constitution we are currently under? Would there be a record online anywhere? I have looked through our minutes and I think we are still under the 2004 one! Since taking on the administrator role this is the first time I have organised the minutes and looked for the constitution. Am thinking we will have to have a meeting to adopt the 2011 one.
