Hi, I am the Chair of the playgroup; our treasurer is stepping down due to personal reasons. Can we elect a new treasurer at a normal committee meeting or would we need to call an EGM? Our AGM isn't until November. Thanks Clare

Hello, I am chair of a playgroup. Our Local Authority area is going to be piloting 30 hours funded places and in order to help accommodate this we have been asked to consider extending our hours. We already open from 8am - 3.30pm (breakfast club, am session, lunch club, then pm session) 5 days per week. WE have approx 80 children on the books at the moment and nearly the same on waiting list ( though some of these aren't old enough to start yet). We've also been asked to consider allowing parents to use their funded hours (whether it be 15 or 30) in more varied ways - i.e. arriving and leaving at times that don't necessarily fit with fixed sessions. Our concern …

We have had an ex parent offer to come and volunteer at our setting and she has recently had a DBS check done as a Nanny, she joined the update service. Does anyone know if it's OK to use her existing check?

Do any of you have a separate questionnaire that committee members fill in? I've noticed in a few reports that Ofsted are mentioning this specifically I suppose it could form part of the SEF too. All parents recieve the same questionnaire at our setting so I wondered if anyone does do a separate one and what kind of questions do you have on it? Many thanks

Morning, Can anyone tell me if I need to register a committee member (who has been in post for many years) for the DBS update service after renewing their DBS check after 3 years? I am still trying to get my head around all of these changes with DBS so want to be 100% sure of the message I am delivering. They have an EY2 in place from when they were originally elected into post. Thanks in advance

Here is a story for you, let it be a warning to all!! Our Chairperson stood down earlier in this school year and our Secretary stepped up to become Chair, we had already had her DBS checked when she joined at the previous AGM so thought all would be OK. We sent an EY3 form and covering letter explaining the swap of roles. Ofsted wrote to the previous chairperson acknowledging her not being the chair/nominated person anymore, but wouldn't accept the replacement as the nominated person as she hadn't completed an EY2. She had completed a her DBS check via the online link Ofsted provided and received her DBS Enhanced Certificate (we thought all was hunky dory). I em…

Bank Staff/Casual workers

Hi there, I'm hoping for a bit of advice and to find out what other settings do. We are looking at having some 'bank staff' on our books to cover us for staff absences if they occur, but are not sure on what basis they should be working for us and wondered if other settings have bank workers and how you deal with it. The work is likely to be very occasional and by no means guaranteed and of course, they would be within their rights to turn down a day if it were offered to them. We are not sure if they would be classed as "workers" or "employees" and wasn't sure whether they would need a contract with SSP etc in it and if we should put them on our payroll or as…

We are gutted that our Supervisor is leaving us after 11 years, although completely understand as it's all got a bit much for her! We are a committee run pre-school and we have not had to advertise for a long time and could do with a bit of advice, we are in the unfortunate position of it being unlikely to have a replacement in time for the summer term when you take into account people having to give notice and getting the references and DBS checks done - feeling stressed! :-( The Supervisor is in the setting every morning, but in addition to that, she does lots of other jobs at home or in holidays (planning and various other things!) and we are unsure how to de…

Hi at that moment we are using the PSLA constitution but are thinking about changing to have our own but actually don't know where to start as we have always used the PSLA one. If there is a setting that have produced their own and had it ok'd by the Charity Commission then any advice please. Thank you

In the dim & distant past we have used a CRB cleared committee member to cover a sudden staff illness - this was pre-eyfs though So my question is, can you still do this these days? Due to such a young age group now The comm member would be needed due to a need for ratio cover
