Cap And Gown
by Guest- 6 replies

I am trying to organise our graduation party and although I've sourced a website to get the caps and gowns from they are a bit expensive. I remember seeing them in a resource catalogue (e.g Hope, eyc) that sold them in the dressing up pages, only now I cant find them. Can anybody remember which one it might have been in or offer an alternative idea?? Many thanks and I'm waiting with bated breath ..................

Had a child today who was very angry unhappy about an incident and tried to take his frustration out on other children but luckily staff intervened, however succeeded with staff, hitting/kicking staff, throwing toys at them for some minutes, even after gently removing to a quiet area away from an audience (still with two members of staff). Usually, we would sit with the child until they had calmed down sufficiently to talk about what happened but he was having none of that today. Doesn't happen that often. How would do you deal with this situation, should it happen again? My initial thoughts are to look at how the initial problem was handled so as to try to avoi…

Hi we have a child who is 3.5 yrs old and is still wetting herself and looks at us very blankly when this happens. I am concerned that she has no sensation of needing to go or going. Mum has been to H/V had urine tested but all OK and gave mum no additional support. I am just wondering if anyone could suggest anything. As a baby she wore a brace due to clicking hips.Don't know if there may be a link. Mum is becoming very disheartened and frustrated as she has tried chart, new toilet seat/potty etc. Any advice would be greatly received. I have said perhaps a chat with the Doctor would be helpful but she said her GP doesn't have any compassion?!? Thanks guys.

I am new at my school and the current report format which I have just been given asks me to tick whether a child needs support, is at an appropriate developmental age, demonstrating a strength or above average... I have several 3 year olds who cannot cut but if I put them under needs support, that implies they are below average....is that really accurate or should I class them as developmentally appropriate because they have only just turned 3 and are just beginning to gain some confidence in their skills..........please help!!

we have a little boy, he's nearly three and eats everything! when i say everything it's not toys, just things like playdough, blue tack (if he can take it off a poster without anyone seeing!) the children have free access to pritt sticks which he eats if noone looking! these things cant taste good? he did have a dummy when he first started he doesn't bring anymore but still has it for sleep wondered if there may be a connection, but mum says he does it at home too. mums not worried, but our resourses are depleting rapidly! has anyone had any experience or ideas which may reduce him wanting to eat them??

Odd Behaviour

Hi all Since returning to school 4 weeks ago I have noticed odd behaviour from one of my new Reception boys. He seems to have difficulty socializing with other children prefering to cling to adults (especially me!) He is a very happy and somewhat over affectionate boy. He tends to touch others, again especially me quite alot often touching me when the children are on the carpet. he squeezes my hand and kisses my hand quite alot. I have explained to him that this is not approprite and discouraged him from doing this. He has now started squeezing other children's hands often far too tightly. He is growing a pumpkin in his garden and talks about it constantly! I did think …
