I was at NDNA conference last week - I have written an article reviewing the talks I went to in the 'Leadership stream'. I have included some ideas about things I am going to do at my setting. I'd be pleased to hear any thoughts from you if you were there ... what did you learn?! You can read my article here.

We are being asked to contribute to a consultation regarding a change to the rules about disqualification by association. I thought it might be useful to have a thread to discuss queries and questions and to share experiences about how this affects providers in 'the real world'. You can access the consultation here. See here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/reception-baseline-comparability-study and here https://www.gov.uk/government/news/reception-baseline-comparability-study-published I wonder what will happen... I wonder how many schools will still do it if it's not going to be used. I wonder if this means a standard 'test' to be done at the start of reception? Also, whether there are implications for the EYFSP reporting ending this year?

I thought that in the very near future there will be a new statutory framework. Well it might not be a framework anymore it may just be statutory. so what do you want to see in it? How would you structure it? Lets get creative and then see what happens. I liked the principles and would like to keep those. I would happily keep the stuff about Ratio and Qualifications. Ratio I would like uniformed so 1:8 across all settings and not linked to higher qualifications. I would like to see recognition of qualifications and EYP/EYT for leadership and for those working with children. Importantly play is what children do and is how we assess progress. …
