The new minister with responsibility for childcare and early years is to be Robert Goodwill MP. His new remit will see him additionally responsible for vulnerable children and families. Mr Goodwill has previously worked as a minister in the department for transport and also has also served as government whip with responsibility for HM Treasury and the Department for Food & Rural Affairs. If you haven't seen this yet, please take time to read and respond. It may look (because it says primary assessment) that it doesn't have anything to do with early years. It does! Opinions sought on the EYFSP but also on introducing a baseline in reception. You can get a flavour of the thinking by how many questions start with 'if we introduce baseline to reception.....'. Early education have written a very good response to help you muse over the issues. https://www.early-education.org.uk/news/draft-response-primary-assessment-consultation The consultation itself is here https://consult.education.gov.uk/assessment-policy-and-development/primary-assessment/ A…

Ofsted have released 'Good' provider logos that you can use, if you are eligible (there is an eligibility checker). You can read the official news item from Ofsted here and it includes links to the download area - you will need your URN number and email address. There are also clear guidelines about how, when and where you may use the logo.

What do you think? http://www.foundationyears.org.uk/2017/03/department-for-education-primary-assessment-consultation-launched/?utm_source=Foundation+Years&utm_campaign=97e06d30d7-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_03_28&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e05004a334-97e06d30d7-296142345

This is on the BBC website - I thought it might be worth sharing with your families so that they can check the content of clips their children are watching. "Thousands of videos on YouTube look like versions of popular cartoons but contain disturbing and inappropriate content not suitable for children. If you're not paying much attention, it might look like an ordinary video featuring Peppa Pig, the cheeky porcine star of her own animated series. But soon after pressing play on this particular YouTube clip, the plot turns dark. A dentist with a huge syringe appears. Peppa's teeth get pulled out. Distressed crying can be heard on the soundtrack." The disturbing YouTu…
