An interesting suggestion coming from the new Ofsted chief Amanda Spielman- what do you think about getting rid of the grade 1 inspection outcome?

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help? We have decided to our horror, that we are slipping back into servicing and supervising children rather than interacting with them. Does anyone know of any video footage that shows this kind of bad practice, so that we can watch it without it getting personal to us and then see how ineffective it is, so we can then compare it to some good footage which we can find easily. I know it's not usual to watch bad practice!, but I think this curved ball approach may help us atm. Thanks if you can help.

We got the call on Monday that Ofsted were coming in for a one day inspection the next day. In the meeting at the beginning of Tuesday it was agreed that the inspector would come into FS2 for 20 mins. She wanted to look at the opportunities for writing during free-flow. When she came in there were children in the sand reading and writing tricky words, children in the brick area creating a wonderful house, that they went onto label, in construction the children there were busy making models and then drawing and labeling them, in the home corner some children were busy writing shopping lists, at the writing table some children were making get well cards for me as I hadn't b…

Hi there, I've been dying to tell everyone for 2 weeks that we got Outstanding in our recent OFSTED. Both the school and EARLY YEARS. While we were being 'done', I jotted down the things we were asked or needed to show. Thought it might help you all?! 1. Where are they on-entry generally speaking? - e.g. mostly average, full ability range, mostly below average etc. And then they want to see the data to back this up. Tables with colours seem to go down well! 2. What are your weakest areas? What are your strengths? (again with data) and what are you doing to improve the weak areas? 3. How do you set targets for children - when and what do you do with the next steps? 4…

HIya, I am the chair of a pre-school and have asked our leader to work one day a week specifically on moving from good to outstanding for our next inspection. We have a good budget to one side in our bank to help fund any necessary purchases/training/development etc. i know this is properly a hard one to answer but anyone else who has outstanding now have any hints or tips of things to do which can help to really push from good to outstanding? thanks xxx

Are schools required to have a separate EYFS policy? I have lost track.

Greetings everyone. Now that the EYFS is going to have a separate judgement in a school inspection, I am thinking about starting a file of stuff ready for OFSTED....perhaps under the 4 headings of the inspection. Any suggestions as to what I should put in it? Under Leadership and Management for example. What could I put in that? Behaviour???? Driving myself nuts. Catma.....are you there?
