hi Alistair Bryce Clegg has shared this: http://abcdoes.typepad.com/abc-does-a-blog/2014/03/what-ofsted-are-looking-for-in-eyfs.html At the end is the link to comment on the Consultation on separate judgements for EYFS ( and sixth forms) in school inspections. I am slightly cross that they stopped separate judgements at the end of 2012(?) and now think it's a good idea again. It should never have been stopped in my opinion!

Hi, For the last couple of days I have been doing what I always do and checking the Ofsted website for the latest reports they have produced. I always search under 'date published-last week', Region-'South West' but whatever I do it says 'no reports match your search'. is it me?

Can ofsted come when there is no SMT? Our head teacher is going to be off for a few weeks due to an operation and the assistant head is taking the oldest class on a residential. Therefore can Ofsted still come? If we do get the phone call what do we say? Thanks

Hi all. Just wondering if joint observations apply to schools. Is it the inspector that does the ob with head? Or is it in house as part of the cycle?

Hi, My wife and I run a preschool in Hertfordshire. We had an Ofsted inspection in February 2012 and we were awarded a good report which we were pretty pleased about as we had only been going for 7 months. However last week Ofsted turned up at our setting 18 months later. We asked why she was inspecting again as we were taken totally by surprise and asked her if we had a complaint against us and she said 'No, every setting is being revisited and re-inspected because of the revised EYFS' and it's pot luck. It went well although it was stressful however, My question is 'has anybody else heard that Ofsted are revisiting everybody?' My wife went to her SEN tonight and …

Hi All, Been a while since I posted and funnily enough it was related to inspection and here I go again! I have been performance managing this week observing my Nursery teachers and next week will be my Reception teachers. The observation form I have been given by SLT is based on whole school (we are Reception to Year 12) and I feel that it just does not suit our needs. Does anyone have anything better suited to FS that would help, perhaps what you use in your setting? In the meantime I am attaching what I have so that you can see what I am dealing with! Thanks! Hi We are day 2 of OFSTED and we have a Nursery on site. I am the FS leader and was teaching in the Nursery but I am now in Reception. The Nursery got an outstanding 2 years ago. I am being interviewed today and one of the issues raised is that if the Nursery is oustanding why do the children come into reception still below National average. Bear in mind that our Nursery only sends 20-25 children and we are a 2 form entry school and we are in a deprived area of the country. Any thoughts?

Hello all talk of an Ofsted inspections is looming within our school and I was wondering if anybody had had a recent inspection in a school with a maintained nursery? If so I would be grateful to find out what the process was like for you and what did the inspectors look at? I know it all depends on the inspector on the day, but I would be very grateful to know what the experience was like for you and anything in particular that I need to be doing/know etc. Thank you in the hope that someone can help/offer guidance

Hi everyone, our day nursery (0-5) is coming up for an inspection soon, I was wondering if any one could tell me exactly what makes a nursery outstanding, what are the criteria we need to meet? and if there are a set of criteria, does anyone know where to find them. If not what is your understanding of what makes an outstanding day nursery. Thank you

Ofsted is planning to change its judgements for Early years settings in September and you can put your opinion forward to the proposal. Basically it wants to get rid of the satisfactory judgement and change it to needs improvement and then there are actions that will follow if settings get that judgement.I don't know how everyone feels about this.Take a look at the Ofsted web page under consultations.I will try and find the link.
