I volunteered to help at our Reception open day tomorrow as I teach in Reception one day a week. I arrived to collect my daughter this evening to be told Ofsted are in tomorrow! Oh how joyful, I have never been there for a school inspection before, I've always been on Maternity leave! I'm told I'm doing outdoor activities.... I'm hoping if it's raining they won't want to follow me out there The only bonus is I have been teaching PE to year 4 on Wednesday afternoons but the timetable changed this week so I should be starting 1:1 year 6 tuition but as nothing has been sorted I'll just be supporting year 6 science as a TA/Mummy helper!

1 Day Art Inspection Anyone?!
by Guest- 3 replies

Hi we had the call today that we are going to have an art, craft and design 1 day inspection next Wednesday. Has anyone had one of these and can let me know how it went and what to expect? I am art coordinator and together with the d and t coordinator will be heavily involved. This will be our 3rd inspection in the space of 12 months, we had our 2 day one last June then our RE one in sept and now this -it seems so unfair!

Hi! I have seen various links across the forum to Ofsted inspections and the new EYFS but can't find anything related to Ofsted and the new EYFS in maintained settings. I assumed that the new EYFS would impact on school inspections too, especially with the Safeguarding updates. Can anyone point me in the right direction?! Cheers!!

Has anyone had an inspection with an inspector who was being inspected by a Quality Ofsted manager? Has anyone had to deal with a desagreable inspector who was not listening to your answer or who had not read the Self Evaluation Form?

In case anyone hasn't seen it yet, 'A good education for all' consultation responses are new arrangements can be found http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/resources/120067 It makes very interesting reading especially around the satisfactory becoming 'requires improvement' and the 2 consecutive 'requires improvement' becoming inadequate. This idea was changed for EY inspections so its interesting they decided to keep it for schools. Have a read..it isnt too long. There are also ones for ITT and further ed but Ive not read those yet.

Hi, I'm looking to visit as part of my professional development any Reception Classes/Units that have been graded outstanding. Especially any under the new OFSted framework. I'm really interested in seeing an outstanding provision because we're aiming for it in my school and it really helps to see outstanding in practice. Thanks for any help. Sairs

Hello to you all! Sorry, I haven't been on here for a while, time is passing me by! As I am sure it is for you all!! Can I just clarify that the moderation focus areas this year are: numbers for labelling and for counting Calculating Physical development. We are due to be moderated by the LA and I do not know what to expect. We are going to them as opposed to them coming to us. I was moderated as an nqt but that seems so long ago now and they have very different expectations of us now. I am from a 2 form entry school so do I take 3 childrens evidence across the whole year or 3 from each class? Many thanks in advance, Skittles

We are expecting OSTED any day now. I am a Foundation Stage Leader and feel I have all my data in order, however I am still nervous about the interview! I just wondered if anyone who has already been OFSTEDed recently could share what sort of questions they ask about data? For instance do they ask what percentage of children exit FS at 6+, that sort of thing? Thanks if anyone can help!
