I don't understand how it all works. We've been taken over by the school whose site we're on and had the big O in this week. At pre-school we had an inspector in for about 20 minutes yesterday - she didn't speak to anyone - then she came back today, told me she wanted to see what activities we had today. I volunteered some things about our outside play and then she left. We have been given a grading on the basis of this which I'm not allowed to talk about. How can they give you a grading on that?? When we were committee run it went on for hours and we were all quizzed.... I'm so frustrated.

I was pretty clear about how i organise my classroom until we had a mock inspection! I currently have my classroom zoned into areas eg construction, messy art, mark making, number role play, play dough, investigations free flow outside , with sand water playhouse etc and we have a theme for the week eg this week is harvest, with focus story, number and literacy activities, ideas from the children. the mock inspector hated it and said she shouldn't see the childrens learning and objectives through out the classroom. Can i ask do people change their classrooms daily to reflect maths or literacy outcomes? i tend to change mine half way through the week.or when the children …

Hi, Got the call yesterday that we are having an art observation the first day back after half term. I was wondering if anyone had ideas of what i could do for Handa's Surprise. I need to make sure i'm teaching the appropraite skills and techniques for Reception. I thought about printing with fruits, maybe weaving but I also need an outdoor activity... I'm the art co-ordinator and I need a secure plan as i may need to have to have supply cover for my class as i will be on a joint obeservation with the inspector. Any ideas would be greatly apprecited!!

We were meant to have moderation this week, so we are quite prepared in many respects ... but I still have a day to sort things out and a large team waiting for instructions! Anyone been through the process recently. I just don't know if this inspector will be more 'early years' or more 'ofsted'! Any tips gladly received!

I'm currently in the process of getting evidence together for the submission of Early Years Quality Mark. Has anybody else been through the process? What should I expect from the assessment day? I've only been at the school since September so it's been hard filling in the paperwork.

In september I became an NQT and took my first job in a reception class. My head has recently informed me that we will be moderated after the Christmas break. I was just wondering if everyone could give me a few pointers as to what they will be looking for? And any other advice as I feel very nervous about the whole thing!!!
