Hi all I really hope there is someone on here that might be able to give me some advice. My school are due ofsted very soon and have been working with advisers to make sure we are ready. I know safeguarding is a big thing this time around and we the advisers have said we should have a book that lists everything that could potentially harm the children in the setting such as the plastic cutters in the playdough! I feel that if thats the case we could end up listing things like tables with corners and even laminated resources that have sharp edges. Has anyone else had this brought up in an ofsted? Also how do you deal with parents that insist on bringing their child into th…

Hello everyone, Got the call today and have Ofsted on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Any advice from people recently inspected would be great. Also is there anything else I should be doing etc? The rest of the staff have gone into a frenzy, but I am remarkably calm, which is worrying me!! Had an early years advisor in at beg of Dec and she looked round with a critical eye, so we have made a few adjustments since then. Please help! Jane

I was observed by Ofsted (I have been teaching 3 months in total - I am still an NQT) and I got Satisfactory with Outstanding features. Can someone please explain to me what the 'outstanding features' part is? Also, was this a good grade to get? Many thanks

Hi all Ofsted are in on Mon and i have a major worry. We have parents in on a monday afternoon for an hour for a play date. We use this to share information about children, parents contribute to learning journeys and they get to experience whta their child has been doing. My major headache tonight is that we are due to start this with this terms intake on mon. Obviously every parent in the fs has not been CRB checked i have spoken to head and he said we are to carry on as the benefits of parents being involved are so great. He said give them a talk about safety and safe guarding etc... I am so worried that we are going to kick ourselves in the foot as parents are not CRB…

Ofsted Inspection Yet?

Hi I was just wondering if anyone has had an inspection yet this term? Or had one this early in the term before? I am in a two form reception class. We are expecting mr and mrs O anytime this year but have had a few whisperings that it could be much sooner than we think. What do they look at this early in the term? Your current children or your scores from last year? Any help would be greatly recieved. This will be my first one as team leader and I really want it to go well. Thanks Becs

So desperately trying to get things in order so i don't panic quite so much when we get the phone call! Has anyone else in a Primary School been ofsteded lately? Did you need you need to complete an early Years SEF? What questions did they ask? How long did they stay for? What data did they ask to see? Any other snippets of information that will make the whole experience more pleasant?!?!?!/1 Thanks H xoxoxo

My head had given us a list of what OFSTED look for in a lesson, but I don't feel this is really relevant in an early years setting when you are often not teaching a 'lesson', but room managing, and overseeing the smooth running of the whole day. Does anyone have a list of what OFSTED look for in foundation stage? I think it is supposed to be quality provision, but I'd have to have something specific in writing. We are all being grilled
