I've just had an email from the funding person at the LA telling me that my EYPP is due to go into our account in the next 5 days, and that she will be emailing securely the details of who and how much received.... The only children I had applied for have now left the setting.... Going to have a job showing how I spent it on the children it was meant for, aren't I? *Slow hand clap* ...well done the LA!

Please check the term dates in your county for 2015 - 2016. Our schools this year are open 193 day = 39.1 weeks. I just rang County to see if we are being funded this amount and they said no they haven't got the money and are only funding 38 weeks. They have adjusted their timetable and we open Sept 1st which I was aware of, but we are closing July 8th (which I wasn't aware of) a week earlier than the schools. They said if I wanted to keep open that last week to help parents with children at school, I should charge them our rate. Me thinks not.... a little 'one to one' time without older siblings seems a good opportunity for a little parent/child bonding time and I m…

Dear Early Years Practitioners, There is currently a petition on www.change.org called "Fairer funding for Early Years, fairer services for children" which gets signatures surprisingly slowly. I checked it yesterday and it had only 666 signatures so far. It will be sent off as evidence to the DfE by next week, so we have only a few days to go to boost the number of signatures. Would you all be so kind to sign it, if you have not done so, and if you have a Facebook page, a Twitter page or a member of any other social media groups, please ask your followers to sign it. Remember that the petition can be signed by anyone, not only by EY practitioners. https://www…

Hello everyone, I am trying to find information about additional funding for having in a setting a person with Qualified Teacher Status, Early Years Professional Status, Early Years Teacher Status or another suitable level 6 qualification who is working directly with the children. I know that the rates are set during April each year based upon the Early Years Census data collected in January each year but have no idea how much. Does anyone receive it?

Hi there Is any one else experiencing what we are going through! A few of our two year olds who we thought were going to move up to our preschool room in September are going to a School Nursery who are offering them 30 hours. Some of our Preschool children are doing the same. I feel cheated as Schools get 70% more pay and they are also recruiting mid year.ie January. Aaaaaaaaaaaaa! is any one else experiencing the same as me?

We are a relatively small setting that can take a maximum of 27 pre-school children a day. We are open from 0905 until 1205 Monday to Friday and then offer Lunch Club (until 1300) Monday to Thursday and Late Stay on days where there is sufficient demand. All staff are contracted to work 5 days week until 1330 (Fridays are planning and staff meetings for the last hour). When I took over as manager 2 years ago, the setting offered parents the option of taking the 15 hours EEF in a flexible way - 5 mornings of 3 hours, 3 days with Lunch Club plus 1 morning session or 3 long days (0905-1400). This has always worked well until this last year. During this last academic…

Hi, I was wondering if anyone charges a retainer for the children who access their funded hours in another setting but require wrap round from us. It means that I cant do anything with the 3 hours. Just curious as to what people charge if they do so. Thanks in advance

Ive just been sent this by the PSLA and thought that some of you might like to have the chance to take part; Dear Colleagues This is an urgent request: The BBC are interested in doing a broadcast report on underfunding in the early years and are looking for case studies of settings in areas where there has been very little or no change in funding rates over the past few years ideally at least one in or near London and at least completely elsewhere. At this stage, the BBC would just like to speak informally to the settings, with a view to interviewing them for a broadcast report and filming at the setting at a later date (TBC). …
