Heard a whisper today which has filtered down through an 'official' source, that FE funding is to be cut by 5% in our area from April. More pressure on us and i'd really like to know how the hell 'they' think we can keep providing all that we do at this rate?? and we have heard nothing officially, so how do we set our budget for the coming year?

Need to let off steam ... sorry in advance! Had a parent phone yesterday requesting a place for her 4 year old, immediately. They have moved from a different county due to personal issues. The child has extreme behavioural issues, Mum was quite open and honest about this. I have spoken to his previous setting who have advised that he will need 1:1 support. However, we are a very small setting and are currently supporting a number of other children with additional needs. I have been told that we must offer this child 15 hours per week as we technically have a place available, despite my concerns that we will not be able to meet his needs, nor indeed those of the other …

Top up fees? 1 2

I'm a Reception Teacher and would like some advice on behalf of a friend. Her little boy is due to receive NEF after Christmas for 15 hrs and she wants him to attend for the 15 hrs but has been told she will need to pay extra. I was under the impression that settings couldn't ask parents to do this. I'd really appreciate some advice.

Myself and my colleague have been invited on a course for eyp's about involving parents in their children's play. We will get £175 to cover supply costs. It's a full day course. Our problem is with their only being the 2 of us we have no one to cover for us and the children should be in for 3hrs during the day. The only way we could go is to close the setting for the day but I don't know if we are allowed to do that because our children are 'funded' Can we close if we give parents enough notice? (the course is 28th feb) Thanks

I've just received my early years funding calculation for next school year and guess what, the increment for QTS/EYP has gone down, how on earth does that work? and whats the incentive to upskill? On the plus side the basic rate has gone up so shouldn't complain really as it means I can avoid putting fees up for another year. How are the rest of you fairing for next year?

I'm so angry!! I completed and hand delivered this form yesterday and have just had an email to say it's not fully completed. I've got the form in front of me and all sections are completed! So I'm guessing I've not put enough detail in or something.... I've put urgent in the title as we have a couple of families in crisis who need their children in at the setting asap. So is there anyone who has recently completed this that could give pointers as to what they put on theirs please? The sections are: Why the setting is interested in participating in the scheme and how it can contribute to improving outcomes for these children and their families. I've put a…

Hi just a query, i was led to believe that the 15hrs was the maximum funding allocation but that it did not mean parents had to take it if they did not wish to. My question is if we are now open for 6 sessions of 3hrs but parents are only taking 4 sessions max a week per child is this allowed. Or must they take the full 15hrs. Hope this makes sense.

Nef Hours Carried Over

Was just curious as to whether it is just somerset who, as from Jan, are allowing parents to take any unused hours over into the next term? They will have all their hours as a yearly total and can split them as they wish between terms. It will work really well for some of my parents as my summer term is much longer than the other two and more extra hours have to be paid for at normal hourly rate whereas now any unused funded hours from the previous terms can be carried forward

A bit of a long shot that anyone from Worcestershire will be online tonight but I am trying to write a business plan and I cannot find any paperwork which actually tells me what the current rate per child is. The rate we used to get would be helpful as well if you have the info!! Trying to argue a case for reducing our premise costs - we have made a loss of £6,000 this last year and I can't cut anything else!!
