I've just spent ages looking for this post by Maz, so now I've found it I thought i'd revive it for everyone else. Our DW visited playgroup this morning and kept asking the playleader why we hadnt filled out the forms stating why we wouldnt be offering the 15 hours. As we havent had any guidance from the city nor any forms, we couldnt do anything and so decided to carry on as normal until we heard smnething. Now it seems we were overlooked! But just incase they dont give me the correct information (highly likely knowing them) I knew the info. from Maz would be a good backup. http://www.foundation-stage.info/forums/in...+EXTENDED+HOURS Hopefully no-one else will need…

Charging A Registration Fee 1 2

We have recieved a letter today from our LEA regarding the Free Early Education Entitlement saying that we are not allowed to charge a registration fee. Do any of you still charge for registration? The way the letter reads "Providers will not be allowed to charge 'top up' fees (the difference between what a provider would normally charge and the funding they recieve from the local authority to deliver the free entitlement) in relation to any free hours. No other fees can be charged in relation to the free entitlement, for eg; registration or uniform". Does this mean that we can not charge 3+ year olds but we can still charge 2 year olds? Appreciate any co…

Re Flexibility

:huh:Hi we are having trouble in our borough as the Flexibility bit of what we have to offer is about as clear as mud!!!! We have been told that we have to offer 15 hours over 38 weeks. that bit is fine!! But then it has told us a minimum of 2 1/2 hours per day up to 6 1/2 hours. OK still fine on that. What we don't understand is: If my setting is open 9am to 12am can I say my free entitlement part is 9.30 to 12.00 and the first half hour you have to pay for because my session is 3 hours long? or do i have to allow parents the 3 hours because that is my session time.!! We have a huge debate going on as the DCSF hasn't put out clear enough guidelines nor has our B…

Right I know there has been loads of great advise about the 15 hour funding but am still confused. My preschool currently runs 2.5 hour sessions and most of our funded children do 5 sessions to get their 12.5 funded hours, any more and they pay. What I am wondering is this-in September can I continue to only offer 2.5 hour sessions or do I have to change them to 3 hour sessions? If I could keep them at 2.5 hour long then I could fill some spaces in the afternoons which are desperately low on numbers. Any advice gratefully received....ps am in Essex

Would anyone be willing to share how their setting offers their 3+ yr olds the 15 hours free funding? Our setting currently offers 9.30 - 12.30 Free, with breakfast club and lunch club chargeable. One parent has demanded that we offer '3' flexible hours a day so she could drop her child off at 9am and collect at 12noon. Does anyone offer this flexibility of time in their setting and would you deam it 'reasonable'? thankyou dottyp

Would anyone be able to share their funding rates for 15 hrs with me. Our LEA is proposing our normal 12.5 hr rate, but an extra funding level (at higher rate) for the aditional 2.5 hrs we are required to deliver from Sept. What are your local LEA's doing?? Look forward to your reply.

we claim for 38 weeks funding, 190 days per year, are we able to use any of those days as inset /training days , or for parent meeting days -or do we actually have to run a 'proper' session for each of those 190 days?
