Does anyone one know definition of top up fees? I guess it may differ from one county to another but I'm not really sure what is classed as a top up fee and as they aren't allowed I'd like to be clear. I have contacted our funding people but either not go a firm answer or they haven't got back to me thanks ppp

Hi Anyone from Nottinghamshire on here? Think Sue is? Anyone heard yet? Seeing as we start this after the Easter break you would have thought they would let us all know! Suprvisor and Co-ordinator dont know anything yet...must say it typical of Notts! Nottingham City Council seems to be better informed.

Can someone help me im really confused. Can you get a grant/ allowance or something for opening longer hrs. I want to offer afternoons as I am currently a pre-school setting offering only morning sessions and a setting that I know in Stevenage gets an allowance for staying open in the afternoons even if they don't have many children.

does anyone know if the we will be paid monthly for the fudning we are due or for the whole yr then split it up ourselves. My concern is that I won't recieve enough each month to cover my wage bill whilst in months like July I'll have funding with no wages to pay so will just save it for the next month. I mean surely they should give us a head start a pay us for a few months. It's so silly.

can someone help or does anyone have any suggestions? I'm currently open from 9:30 to 12 however would like to provide a 9-3 provision. I already have around 20 children attending who are entitled to NEG so I cannot increase their hrs and charge them for it as many of them do not want this. What should I do

Pre-school Trip

Hi, We are organising our first big trip out to a farm. We are registered for 18 children per session but have 27 on roll. We are running the trip on a Thursday morning when 18 children attend but would like to invite the other 9 children. Here are the questions!!...... 1) In addition to the trip cost do we ask the extra 9 children to pay for a pre-school session on that day? Or just let them come for free? And if they come for free does their parent have to come with them on the trip? 2) Is it okay to be in charge of more than 18 children outside of the setting as long as we up the ratios accordingly? 3) We will be asking the parents to drop and collect the…

How have mixed aged settings found the 2 year olds coping with the increase to 3 hours? We had children falling asleep after 2 hours this September, I don't know if they will cope with 3 hours! Does anyone send 2 year olds home earlier than 3 hours? If so how do you deal with it? Do the books balance for the extra 1/2hr funding and paying staff 1/2hr extra? Some of the questions posed at our staff meeting the other night, got the feeling it's not very welcome many thanks

We will be providing the 15 hrs from Sept 10, and have just had notification of our funding levels. It appears to come from 2 separate pots, i for 12.5 hrs as present, and an additional payment (at a higher rate) for the extra 2.5 hrs. We are also advised that there will be a one off payemnt as enticement for moving ti 15 hrs. How is your funding going to work from Sept 10?

Hi, During my EYPS course, I've heard a lot of talk about the Graduate Leader Fund. However, I can't actually seem to find much information about it online. All I could come up with were: i) a Graduate leader application form - Liverpool City Council www.liverpool.gov.uk/Images/tcm21-130499.doc ii) some guidelines on the DCSF website http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/everychildmatters/s...yearsworkforce/ Does anyone have more info on the fund? I.e. criteria to qualify, and who to approach to actually obtain the funding. I'm in Manchester. Not really enquiring for myself, more for a colleague at one of my work placements. Trying to be a practitioner enabling ch…
