Hi What do you do? The children are funded for 15 hours a week and some of them attend more hours. They are charged for the extra hours they come to Pre-school. What happens when we have an inset day? I am going to lose money by having an inset day because i haven't stated what hours are funded in parent's contracts Does anyone put in the parent contract set hours say, Mon - Fri 9am-12noon = 15 hours funded and then any extra on any of those days are chargeable? For example a child attends Mon - 4 hours, Tues - 6 hours, Thurs - 6 hours and Fri 4 hours, totalling 20 hours, 15 of which are funded and the parents normally pays me for the extra 5 hours. We are clo…

Hi The preschool I work at are registered to accept 2yr olds but never have. We now have a few parents asking if they can send their 2 yr olds - a compliment but unchartered territory for us. We understand the ratio's but are a bit confused on what happens when the 2yr olds are in the same room as the 3-4yr olds. If we have 2 - 2yr olds in the room with 11 3-4 yr olds how many staff will we need - do we still have to allocate 1 member to the 2 2yr olds?? Also do you have any advice on how best to manage the room with such a mixed age group? - We are still only in the thought stages - need to work out if it is financially viable etc etc but any help would b…

Another Neg Question
by Guest- 2 replies

I have yet another question with ref the NEG, though I am sure it has probably been asked and explained on here somewhere! We are a day nursery, open 11 hours a day. If a child comes to me just, for example morning sessions (5.5 hours) we charge them the cost of a morning session and then deduct the NEG. We are still on the 12.5 hours funded sessions per week. So for example if a morning session is £23.50, we put that on the invoice and deduct the £8.75 NEG (I think its that amount), so the parent pays £14.75. We do offer just the funded sessions and parents choose if they want to do the whole morning session, it is not compulsary. There is some conjectur…

I would like to talk to any members that are funded by NYCC regarding the flexability funding and how this can be spent. To be eligible for funding with NYCC a child must attend a minimum of 3 days. So if they wanted to come 2 days only no funding could be given and they could not access their full entitlement. Is this the same with all county councils?

I probably know the answer to this but thought I'd ask anyway...does anyone know of anywhere I could go to for help with funding a childs place. We have a child who's mom has had to withdraw because she cant afford the £12.00 a week. We're going to ask the family support worker at our local surestart but do you know of aywhere I can go to? She doesnt qualify for the grant until Spetember but I really dont think its right that someone who needs it should be excluded because she cant pay. We cant afford to give her a free place although I'd like to, it might set a precedent and then we'd really have problems. I dont suppose there is anywhere is there? I just thought I'd as…
