The Government has committed to extending the free entitlement to 15 hours a week for 38 weeks a year by 2010. Parents who wish to do so will also be able to take up the free entitlement more flexibly across a minimum of three days. They will also be able to purchase the additional integrated provision they need to enable them to balance work and family responsibilities. If a parent is working say Thursday and Friday every week and their child attends nursery those two days 8 till 6 , How many hours funding could they have? can they not have the 15 hours over 2 days? because the min requirement is over 3 days. Can a parent that only works one day claim 8 hours…

We have had A LOT of children arriving at our session asking us if they can just do the free sessions of 2 and a half hours. They have been to other providers in the area and they have been told that they must pay the extra half and hour as their sessions are 3 hours. Our sessions are 3 hours too but we let these children come from 9-30 to 12 or 12 to 2-30 as it is what is laid out in the EYEE. I cannot believe that 4 other providers in the area don't know about this. Have also found out that somewhere else is claiming 5 sessions when the child is actually only doing 2..... They wanted to use the other 3 with us! This child is also receiving a bill for hours attended …

2 Year Old Funding

Hello, Currently some of our providers are being asked to sign a contract to be able to offer NEG funding for two year olds (in areas of deprivation). The document seems extremely prescriptive with providers being asked to sign up to 5 ‘unannounced’ visits from their EY consultant per year among other things. It has been suggested that the original contract they based ours on was a pilot contract from Luton, do any of you have one of these I could have a look at? Our network is concerned that our local authority are adding (or as the NDNA state ‘gold-plating’ the contract!) extra conditions that were not originally required by the DCSF. If you can help, please…

I've just spoken to our accountant who asked if we have anything in writing that tells us of any restrictions on the use of the funding. I know if the funding is worth more than our fees the excess has to be for the benefit of the children (i.e. not to pay the rent) but our EY dept couldnt help me with a statement on this. Does anyone have one? Or would it be individual councils?

has anyone heard the latest from gordon brown. he wants to fund 2 year olds. he is making it sound like a new idea but in glos we are already doing this for children that are in need. i did not choose to do it in my setting as you had to provide a 2.5hr session. if gordon brown does go ahead with this i do not know how i will fit them in. currently we are open for 3 afternoon sessions for 2hours each. most parents do one session some two. but we are full to the brim already so cannot give any more sessions. i would also be concerned about how much they will give us most are already out of pocket with 3/4 yr olds. angela

Hi, I know there have been a few posts on this topic already but it all seems very confusing! and everyone seems to offer something different. We are a preschool currently offering 9.00 - 11.45 11.45 - 1pm (lunch 1 - 3 where some children do all day some do morning and lunch some do lunch and afternoon and some do just 1-3 Funded children have to attend lunch and pm to meet current 2.5hours My problem isn't really with the funding because the NEG is currently more per hour than we charge .... Does anyone know whether there are limits on what can be o…

How are people in full day care (nurseries) managing the new funding system. We are now offering 15 hrs per week. I am really struggling to ensure we do not end up at a loss. For example if I have a parent that chooses to attend 9-5pm and use 8 hrs of funding they will expect to pay zero, yet 8 x £3.54 = £28.32, whereas our daily rate is £36.00???? Apologies if this has been covered already, I'm sure there's a simple solution but I can't find it and im now in panic mode as I need to invoice next week for september. Any advice would be great xx
