Mixed Age Range For 3 Hour Funding

Was interested in any of your comments regarding the following We will be going to 15 hours of funded care from next September. We are a community pre-school who run full day care on a Monday and Friday and sessional 2 and a half hour care the rest of the week. This is because on those afternoons, we have our younger children in (starting at 2 and a half to 2 and 9 months). The rest of the sessions are for children who potentially are going to school the following year. (hope you are with me so far!) We have up to 26 children per session and usually 70+ on the register. Because of the new funding we have been told that we have to ask the parents what requirements…

My setting is in a disadvantaged area and will be getting funding for 15 hours per child from September 2009, whereas the rest of the county gets it from September 2010. It's based on the postcode of the setting, all children attending (in the age range, not getting full entitlement elsewhere...) can have the 15 hours. One child will be funded from Septmeber. Mum is going back to work and child will be attending 2 sessions per week at another setting near to mum's work, as far as I know other setting will only be getting 12.5 hours still. So, has anyone else had this yet, and if so, how did you split the funding!? I've told mum we'll look into it, & we'l…

Hi Hope someone can help. I know this has been coming for sometime but head has stuck head in sand! 'its not happening until 2010'. We now have the letter advising us to start asap due to disadvantage area. have tried to work out how to go about it, need ideas that work so I can go to head before they tell me what to do i.e work more hours, commitment etc. Did have an idea that they should employ someone else to do cross over- 8.50 -11.50, then 12.10 - 3.10? Main schools times are 8.45-3.15. Many thanks in advance.

Funding Issue (again)

Hi, I'm a Head of Nursery in Surrey, we are linked to an Independent School and numbers are dwindling here, despite our 'Outstanding' Ofsted report, an amazing environment and a 1:5 staff ratio. Our numbers have been affected by 3 new Children's Centres that are set up within a 5 mile radius. Yesterday I received the Provider guide for funded nursery places and am deeply concerned how this will further affect our provision. We are part of the Private system and most of the children will go on into the school as a whole and the school operates for 35 weeks of the year.. you can see where I'm going with this one... As a school entrant the parents pay a registration fee …

I know there have been other threads on funding 2009/2010 but just in case Essex's hasn't been posted yet I found out that it's going up 2.5% to £9.28 per 2.5 hour session. Also does anyone know if it is definately being raised to 3 hours in 2010?

hi, what do you do if a child's attendance falls below say 85% (I'm talking about funded children)? do you have a standard letter you send to parents? at what point of any do you inform your finance people at the council? have they requested money back from you? anyone had an audit - how much of a grilling did you get? very stressed - audit soon and lots of poor attenders I now realise. own fault for not keeping running total but want to at least show what is in place for the future. have compiled a termly absence summary and a form for parents to complete when child returns giving reason for absence but only just started doing this and audit is for last term…

Please can you tell me if the below makes sense, and also if it sounds a reasonable fee to charge? If your child will be aged 3 before 1st September 2009 they will be entitled to 5 x 2.5 hour funded sessions per week. Up until now, Pre-School have subsidised the extra time that the children attend, unfortunately we just don't have the funds to do this any longer so it is with regret that we need to introduce a small fee to cover staff wages etc for the extra time the children spend with us. If your child is funded the new costs will be: Main Hall sessions Mondays and Fridays 9-1 - £2 per session Tuesday + Wednesday 9-12 and Thursday 12-3 - £1 per session Thursda…
