Hi, My local authority have said 'i should also advise you that at this time the EYCS expects any new PV setting to be open for a term and working closely with the advisory service development officer before qualifying for nursery ed funding.' for those of you who have set up a new PV setting have you had this issue? if you have how did you sustain yourselves for the first term without your ed funding? any advise anyone? thanks xxxx

Does anyone know if NEG Funding can be removed from setting? Am i correct in assumeing that this is a Government initiative and that all children from the age of 3yrs are entitled. Also how many times should a Teacher Advisor visit the setting per year? can anyone help/ Our LA advisor has told us that they will remove our NEG funding as we are not FULLY COMPLIENT with the EYFS. After speaking to other settings ,it is my belief that the LA are using this tacktik to scare and threaten settings causing increased and unessesary stress and worry on the settings. Recently i was advised that the LA cannot remove the funding and that a teacher advisor should be in place to visit …

Worded Letter

we have never charged any extra when children are funded.... we work 2 3/4 hours so for children who do 5 mornings they get 1 1/4 hours free. Now (about time) they are now going to charge the parents, i have worked out how much that will be (divided hourly rate) what i need is a carefully worded letter as this will effect some of the parents in September when this comes into force. Just a few lines to help me word the letter would be fantastic thank you

Funding 2009/2010 1 2 3

We have just received today an email advising of the funding amount from April and are very dissapointed by how much it has gone up. We were told the new amount was going to take into account admin time, training, etc but it has gone up by 20p per session just under 2.5%. The new amount is £3.38 per hour, £8.45 for a 2 1/2 hour session so with the annual increase to our rent, general cost of supplies going up looks like no payrises again this year. Out of interest what do you currently receive and what is your changing to from April? Many thanks Penny

Maintained Nursery Funding Changes

I am the teacher in a maintained nursery and we currently trying to work out how we can extend our hours to 3 pers session instead of 2.5. We have also been told that from next year we will only be funded for each child in the setting rather than for the places available. Our LEA ensured us that we would not be put in the position that many PVI settings are where we have to take on temporary staff to cover busy times but our funding will be based on a head count in September and January so any child we have arriving between January and July we will not be funded for - how immoral is that! Can I ask are PVI settings also only funded on a head count based on numbers in Sept…

had a strange situation today! a parent came to visit who wanted funded place for her child, she wasnt happy with current setting and wished to change, child stayed for an hour and loved it!! when i contacted LA to find out what would happen re fees i was informed that as she was at other setting during headcount day they would receive all the terms funding!! mum hadnt been told this and had worked a months notice, now child has no place and cant attend where she wants too! surely this is unfair as she entiled to a place of her choosing, she will have to wait until next term now to acess our setting, mum wasnt happy at all. i said she could bring her in for visits anyway …

Currently our sessions are 3 hours long except for on a friday which is 4 hours long, after easter we will also be upping the monday session to 4 hours as well. Obviously the funding only covers the 2.5 hours, so I wonder if anyone would mind telling me if they charge for the hours used that aren't funded (hope that makes sense) and if they do charge, how much should we charge? We have an extra charge for the friday session but this was implemented before i took over and really, taking in to account staff costs alone (5 staff for 1.5 extra hours) I don't think it is nearly enough..... I'd be interested to know what you all think please

Hi ! I wonder if anyone can help ? At our community run preschool we always claim the nursery grant even for the time that some of the parents take their child out for holidays. Are we allowed to do this or do we have to ammend the hours at the end of the term and give the funding back ? What do you do ? I ask as we had our chairperson say that because her son would be away for a week next month that she was going to use those hours to pay for the shortfall in funding we have at the end of term. I am now completely confused ! (which I know doesn't take much to do !) the parent asked us for five mornings a week, we only open from 9-12, mon-fri. Not sure how to resolve…
