Need Your Help

Hi I am a teacher in an Infant school with a nursery and I am currently looking into the changes to the nursery funding for 3 and 4 year olds and the issues that it will cause being raised from 12.5 to 15. I am trying to put together FAQ questions that need answering for different types of settings including PVIs and maintained nurseries. What questions do you have about it so far that you want to find out - flexibility of sessions, lunchtime provision, staffing ratios etc? I would love to hear as it will help me to make sure I address as many issues as possible. Thanks ever so much Fi

Sorry I am completely new to all the politics of funding, I've just successfully done all the funding forms for pre-school for the first time though - woooo lol anyway, I've read on here a few times about funded sessions going from 2.5 up to 3 hours. Is this right? if so does anyone know when it will be happening please? Just leading on from another thread I started really, asking if people charge when the session is longer than 2.5 hours? I don't want to bring in a charge if the funded sessions will be soon paid for 3 hours as that is what our sessions are? gawd, reading that back I hope someoen can make sense of it....it's been a very long day

Increase To 15hrs Entitlement 1 2 3

Just wondered how other Sessional Pre Schools are feeling about the imminent increase to 15 hours (by 2010). What are other groups proposing to do? I feel that this could be the beginning of the end for Groups like ours. We meet in a church hall and can only offer 7 sessions of 2.5 hours maximum because the premises is used by other groups too. Any ideas? Looking for some sort of answers but at the moment can't seem to find a way around it, without closing. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sharing Neg Funding

Hi there just wondered if anybody had any experience of split funding for a child in reception. I'm a childminder caring for a child with developmental delay who is due to start reception in 2009 having only just turned 4. Her parents would like her to attend school part time and continue with me part time and I was wondering how I could be an advocate for them receiving some funding to do that. If I am aware that this has happened for other children in other authorities I may have better grounds to fight her cause on behalf of her parents.

Hi, I'm the Head of a Nursery attached to an Independent Prep school and we have our own issues in this sector concerning the NEG and I was wondering if anyone else is having the discussions I'm having with the Head of School. As an Independent School, we have always charged fees appropriate and comparable with those charged for the older pupils in the school and these charges were always acceptable to the clients who chose our nursery for their children. (Parental choice?) We have recently upped our entrance age from 2yr 6mths to 2yrs 9mths in order to not have to undergo an Ofsted Inspection for care in addition to the Independent Schools Inspectorate inspecti…

I've just got my new contract to sign for NEG from the county, and one of the clauses says "At transition, from one provider to another, ensure that information about the child's achievements and progress towards the early learning goals is passed onto the receiving provider, using Children's Services' Progress Record" I've never seen one of these - has anyone else? We always use our own Learning Journey booklets - one copy with loads of stuff in for the parents and another general overview goes to the school. What does anyone think? Has anyone got one of these? I've googled it but nothing has come up, I even went on the County website to see if there was anyth…

Hi, We are going through a takeover from our feeder primary to take over the pre-school and match our current provison which is from 2 years 3 months. Can anyone tell me how old a child has to be to be on the school roll. Our school is planning to open a Nursery class which will take the children the term of their 3rd birthday (ie rising 3's based on 3 terms per year). We want them to take the children we do now earlier than this. Also our advisory teacher has suggested that the school takes the rising 3's and the Governors of the school register themselves as daycare providers for the 2y3m up to NEG eligible children. This is an obvious solution but seems to me it …

Our County council have grants up to £2000 available for settings on the Early years Register. Applications can be made in the following areas: Developing an inclusive outside play area Enabling an information and communication rich environment Creating an stimulating language environment Extending and making your provision more flexible and inclusive I am thinking about a willow house as this will develop our outside area as well as providing somewhere which will promore langauge as I would like to put seating in it. I am also thinking all in one waterproof clothing Possibly some bikes/trikes that two children can use, allowing less mob…
