Needing Clarification Please

Hi, okay, in cheshire we get £8.41 per funded session (2.5 hours). The director has seemed to worked fees out in ten million different ways since they took over. now they are telling me that although we claim £8.41 per 2.5 hour session through NEG, this only equates to our hourly rate. so for example say our hourly rate is £2.50 then a child claiming 2.5 hours would cost (using our hourly rate) £6.25 for 2.5 hours, this is obviously less than the £8.41 claimed. so what should nursery do with the left over money. I know this seems confusing and im struggiling to get my head round it, but in the example above we are claiming too much NEG. so say a chil…

County Council Lease
by Guest- 4 replies

Can anyone help us? We are a committee run pre-school that has been lucky enough to have been asked by our local school to move into a classroom (I am thrilled). We have had the Ofsted registration Certificate, funding for various items and then had a meeting with our County Council. The school have broken down expenses to 1/17th of the cost of maintaining and they are happy with that as annual payment (they don't want to make a profit from us). This comes in at £3K However, the County Council would like to add on a further payment to them. They have asked for £2500 rent plus £3000 ongoing costs. We really can't afford this - we are a non profit maki…

Lea Meeting Future Of Funding
by Guest- 14 replies

I am off to a meeting tonight with our local LEA about how we are going to get closer to the maintained sector in 2009/10 as regards NEG funding. We are going to be asked for financial costs in running a private nursery. How do people feel about giving this sensitive and private information. Should it matter as they know how much it costs to run a maintained setting. I am in a dilhema. I am all for partnership working but feel why should I give very financial sensitive info to someone who has been in competition to me for the past few years. Advice anyone?

HI I was flicking through Nursery management today (sep/oct issue) there are two articles in it, i have skim read them but not read properly yet. one talks about a nursery in Bristol that has opted out of providing funded places. the other article is about taking a look at funding in the long term... may be of interest to some of you, and perhaps worth a read if you get the magazine. Nef Audit
by Guest- 3 replies

We had our NEF Audit a couple of weeks ago. It went really well. Can you believe it I have to send statements to all of my funded childrens parents to tell them they owe me NOTHING. What a waste of time, energy, ink and paper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I understand why I have to do it, but that doesn't make it any better). So this afternoon I have prepared 31 invoices and another 31 for my records. Like I don't have enough to do with other paperwork. Have been stewing over this, so just had to get it off my chest. Thank you.

Parents Repaying Funding
by Guest JPH- 13 replies

We have a parent who is dropping 4 of her 5 sessions for which Funding is claimed (for family reasons). We therefore will have to pay back over £400 of Funding already received for her. I need to (attempt to) reclaim this money back from the parent. Has anyone been in this situation before? I would appreciate an idea of how to word the letter in a business-like but non-threatening way? As a pre-school whose numbers dip dramatically next term, we can`t afford to lose this money this term - her absence next year already has made quite a hole in our 2007 budget. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Neg Funding

I am the deputy in a montessori day nursery in (southend on sea)Essex. I am trying to get to grips with the funding system and just need to talk through with others about my understanding of how it works. This is not an area I am involved with but from January it will make a huge difference in the way we run. We have always sent the parents an invoice detailing the terms fees minus the appropriate funding e.g. 3/5 for 3 sessions over the relevant weeks. The parents pay the 'top up' which includes the weeks not covered and the difference of each session. We have been told that we need to offer 2 1/2 hour sessions completely free and only charge top ups if we are offer…
