From the 'model agreement': "The provider should ensure their invoices and receipts are clear, transparent and itemised, allowing parents to [...] understand fees paid for additional hours." How specific do we need to be with the itemising?

We have a child who attends two mornings a week but is only funded for one. His attendance is very patchy and in the 6 weeks we have been open he has only attended for 2 full weeks (4 days). The remaining weeks have been patchy with at least one day attended but the absences has been noted as ill, sister ill, visitors, he doesn't want to come in. The days he has attended he has been late ranging from 9.15 to 10.30 with us having to phone to find out if he is coming in. I know for funding purposes I need to keep a record of all of this (I do) but do I need to tell the LA we are having problems with his attendance. I am worried if they come and do an audit and decide to…

Hi all, For those of you who are looking to limit the number of 30 hour places you offer, do you have any ideas how you will be deciding who you will be offering them to?

The PLA has released it's report following the survey of providers made in March. The results make for stark reading, yet reflect the discussions that have been held on FSF over the last few months. Neil Leitch, chief executive of PLA, has today been speaking to the media about the report. He was live on the Victoria Derbyshire programme this morning: This links to the BBC iplayer programme, (the link will be live for 29 days) The PLA report can be accessed from this link: Less than half of providers plan to offer 30-hours, survey suggests

Hello, I manage a preschool and children's club that is open for 39 weeks a year plus 4 weeks holiday club . We offer care from 7.45-6.00pm and take and collect children from the primary school - a ten minute walk from setting. Because of our walking bus, between the hours of 3.00-3.30 we are often at 21-25 children currently in our care including around 19 primary children and 7 pre schoolers back at setting. So in regards to offering the 30 hours, based on our walking bus for 30 minutes, it seems we can only offer around 7 places a week for 30 hours. What would be the implications for this? I feel like we should be offering more, but because of …

Just had a moan but can't delete the post, about being given a "penalty rate" for not being able to offer flexibility. Why the terminology? Just makes me feel punished and miserable...

I have been trying to find out exactly when this Early years National Funding Formula begins? I am sure I read somewhere it was from April? Please could somebody point me in the right direction? Also, I believe some settings in particular areas are not going to be offering the additional 15 hours due to the rates being too low. I can totally understand this, when I have worked out our new approx. funding rate reduction! Our problem is that we live in a "deprived" area and many parents can not afford to pay privately for childcare, so we kind of depend on the funding. - If this new rate is to come into force from April, we will lose money! How is that fairer?!

I run a small sessional pre school and I've been trying to get my head around starting the 30 hour funding in September. I've started the ball rolling and sent out questionnaires and worked out figures to keep our heads above water. I just feel like I'm being pushed into opening more hours as I realise if we don't it could possibly be the end of us. Is anyone else feeling this? Anyway I had an email on Friday to say Leicestershire is going to be an early implementer and it starts in April! I can't get my head around it. Half of me doesn't want to change and half of me wants to move forward with it but I'm feeling like I'm being pushed into a corner. Is anyone else fe…
