Even though we know the Government didn't give this idea much thought (as usual) and simply wanted to win the General Election, using this 30 Hours free childcare idea, it should still be a positive thing! The government are giving many parents' 30 Hours of FREE care for their children!! On the surface this is a very nice thing to do, right? They are also generating more money for childcare providers, albeit at what many believe to be a low rate of pay. I personally fail to understand this even though it has been explained to me many times! 3/4 year old's ratio 1:8 as we know. 1:13 with a EYT or QTS.. even though we should actually never even contemplate this rati…

Hi - I have inherited the funding file and we have EY1 forms but then FE1 forms as well as/in place of. Can someone tell me please if I need to have both or whether the FE1 (which seems the most up-to-date and thorough) is the only one I need? Thank you.

Funding received by schools

Hi Something has to come light reading all the information about ey funding formula. The government says they expect that schools will be given the same rate as other settings by 2019 and they will be given money to help them with this transition. So my question is if a school and Pvi setting are under the same lea will a 3 yr old at a pre-school under the school get a higher rate of funding? I know under our lea if a child attends ey at school as well as a Pvi pre-school the school get the 15 hrs funding first. Is it the same for other leas? Thanks.

Just had this through from our team at LEA : · Planned introduction in Sept 2017. · It will be delivered in a similar way to current FE – eg: EYFS is still to be followed, no top-up fees by settings, must be free at point of entry for child. · The only 2 things that are not finalised, and will be dependent upon the current pilots being run around the country are the actual rate LA’s will be paid and therefore the actual hourly rate the LA will pay providers, and the final bits around eligibility and how LAs will check parental eligibility. Basically if both parents work more than 16 hours and each parent earns less than £100,00 per year…

Hi, is there anyone on here from East Sussex? We have a child transferring from Oxfordshire into a setting in East Sussex.... Funding has already been claimed and can't be transferred across local authorities... Which is fine, because under the occ funding agreement we keep funding, but also have to take new funded children and not charge them - swings and roundabouts....... My problem is that the new setting have told the parents that they can't claim as the funding has already been allocated to us..... I don't think this should make a difference to them!! Anyway, they've now asked if they can invoice us for the funding amount! Any advice from anyone in th…

TOPS Nursery-Nursery-Education-Funding-policy.pdf Have just picked up on this article from Nursery World. http://www.nurseryworld.co.uk/nursery-world/news/1157484/underfunding-chain-restricts-funded-only-15-hour-places Hopefully the copy of the document they are using to explain the costs to parents has also attached! Would be interested to know your thoughts - it's something I have been thinking I will have to do, especially as still no news on our funding rate (last year it was confirmed in July!) and I am assuming the rate will not increase again.

We have just been informed that the LA is going to audit every setting. I'm sure I have seen a thread on here somewhere but can't find it. I have not been audited before and wondered if any of you have and if you could give any advice etc. On the letter I received it says they will want to see registration forms, registers, birth certs and invoices to parents. Is this standard? TBH I don't actually send invoices to parents, so think I may come unstuck there!
