Hi, We set targets for our F1 Reception age children about 3 or 4 times a year. A letter is sent home to parents and the targets are often a mixture of social (turn taking etc) and academic. We always make sure the targets set are ones which parents will be able to work on at home with their children. However I am having second thoughts about target setting after listening how the rest of the primary school review and update their "smart" targets with their children much more regularly. Our planning shows individual differentiation and planning for progression so staff are aware where each child needs to go next with their learning. I'm not sure whether target setting …

Dear all We have noticed many conversations relating to the completion of the SEF paperwork and so thought we would provide a forum area to have those discussions in. I will be doing a forum search and moving some of those threads into this forum area so that hopefully all your shared wisdom will be in one place. Best wishes Sue Admin Team

Hi all, Sorry for posting my 3rd post in a week - just really keen to get things right in september as I am making lots of changes since being left in charge of foundation stage!! I have been asked to complete a SEF for our early years practice andhow effective it is (just one reception class) but as I've only just completed my NQT year all this is new to me and I am just wondering what the best way to approach it is? Has anyone done one that i can have a look at? I was thinking of devising a form that has a column for things we do well and a coloumn for improvements we need to make. Any advise will be appreciated! K x

It is a dead cert that our school is going to be Ofsteded next term. I have read a lot of things on here about the self evaluation form. i know our head has completed this as he has made a lot of references to it He did mention that he would let us know what he has put in the SEF. However after many requests fom staff it seems to be that sharing it is one of those things he never seems to getr round to doing. As a staff do we need to be very familiar with what has been put in the SEF? From speaking to other collegues i kinda get the impression that Ofsted look at it and sort of inspect you by what your head has put on the form. Is this correct?? I have never exper…
