Can you tell me what the rules are for a school run after school club, where the children are from rec to yr6. the club runs from 3:05 to 4:30. How many staff need to cover this - what qualifications do they need? how many children can they have? is it ever ok for one adult to do this? I thinkI know the answer to that but any concrete knowledge? Thanks lucie x

Registers And Incident

Hi I know that we have to keep registers of how long the child attends but just wondered if you actually get the parents to sign their children in ie in the morning and then out once picked up from after school club? Our registers are currently set out as A4 page per day with all the names of the children in that session ie morning one page afternoon another. Then time in time out and signature of parent. How do you do it? Do you do a formal register time when the children arrive at after school club or mark them in as they come in? Staff then have to chase all those that should be in, arent in as they are at eg football/archery etc and not told club! Wha…

Shift Workers And Bookings

Hi Following on from my other thread abouit late bookings how do other clubs keep spaces available for those that do not know what nights childcare they need due to shift patterns? I am wanting to take the school club to regular bookings without parents having to re-book their sessions every month. We are nearly full every night except fri. At the moment priority in getting a session is given to those that have used the club the longest ie if yr 6 child suddenly wants a tues but we are full then a reception child will lose their place. Seems ridiculous to me and unfair. This does rarely happen but it could. Plus as a parent i find it unsettling that one month i may lose…

Ideas For Dealing With Late Bookings
by Guest- 12 replies

Hi all This is to do with school club. A committee member deals with the bookings done on a monthly basis. At start of month booking form for following month goes out with a deadline of 2 weeks later. We have been having numerous parents not getting their forms in on time. They do risk losing their place but have now got into the habit of going into club with late forms. This means the manager then has to spend time looking to see if there are places available etc . We did offer the ad hoc faciility to help parents out for odd sessions not for trying to fit a child in 4 or 5 sessions per week! This takes a great deal of time for manager to sort out. She either has to co…

Hi all I'm new on here (just signed up) I've been running an out of school setting for a number of years and although we did complete an SEF for our last inspection (2008) I wasn't really happy with it as although it took ages to complete it appeared to be a bit of a 'rush job' I did a search for 'exemplar sef' as suggested in another post but it didn't seem to throw up the examples I thought it would, perhaps I did it wrong! . Any help or advice in that direction would appreciated. Also any examples of how other people run their clubs would be useful

Hi, A local day nursery has just set up a breakfast club at my school for year Reception to eyar 6. I have one child from my reception class attend. Do they need to be planning towards EYFS or is it just fun?! I spoke to them about sharing learning etc, they can contirbute to her learning story and I can let them have her PLODs but they said there was no need. Just wondered what the situation is with this? Thanks KST
