Hi, I think Im just looking some re-assurance/success stories!! It was my first day today as manager of an out of school club and Im not feeling like ive had the best day! I am starting to realise how difficult it is to come into and manage a club ive never worked at before hand, where everything is well estbalished and I am unfamiliar with the practices and procedures of this particular club but supposed to be leading it. It is more complicated because its committee run and although the committee have been great, they dont really have the information to give me that I need! Anybody been in a simialr situation and can offer any advice? Thanks Jo

Children's Prospectus

Hi, I am thinking of working with our nursery children to create a Children's Prospectus - a booklet to share with new children joining the setting but made by our current children. I think it would be a great way for the children to voice thier own thoughts on what they like about the nursery. I am thinking of using a combinations of photographs and interviews to pull it together. I would give the chidren the camera to use themselves and I would transcribe thier comments. I was wondering if anyone else had repared something similar and would be really interested in hearing your experiences. Many thanks!

Hi! Can anyone help? We're aware we need to follow the EYFS for the reception ages children at After School Club and Holiday Club, but we're not sure to what extent. Our advisor has suggested that we complete foundation stage profiles. We think this is ridiuculous! The children are already doing these at school, surely our contributions would be enough? Has anyone got their head around this yet? Would be incredibly grateful for any suggestions for how to get it right without making the children begin another school day at 3.15! Gaina x x x

Children need to have set boundaries of behaviour. Club has a list of rules on display, which have been made by the children in the setting and are regularly reviewed. There are also ‘remaining’ signs in the rooms as well as stickers system. Staff are working through an award behaviour display. For categories: best behaviour, best helper, best in activities. What are other ideas for categories? What other methods are you using to manage children behaviour?

Please can anyone shed some light on how they implement the EYFS within their After School Club? Do you plan from the ELG's? How far to you go in terms of assessment and liasing with the setting the child attends. Thank you!
