I am in the process of setting up an after school club. How do you charge your fees e.g. weekly, termly in advance etc. Do you get people to pay and book in advance? and do you charge a reduction for siblings? All answers greatly appreciated. buttercup

I Have An Interview!

Well I have an interview for position of Executive Manager of School Club on Fri afternoon. It basically means doing all the jobs the current committee are doing ie bookings, finances, policies/procedures, documentation, admin, talking to parents, staff training, inductions for parents/staff, covering manager/deputy absence and to aid the transition of the club from committee to school. Not really sure what sort of questions they are going to ask...what do you think? Its a position that seems to be a first in the LEA and a role the head sees as developing further (lots of questions to ask there!)

Hi all Well went to school to pick son up and got told the head needed to see me. Found him in the corridor and he said..you have 5 mins OFSTED are here to inspect club!! I ended up staying in the setting to cover manager whilst she spoke to them. We are very pleased with the result. She was very impressed with the childrens behaviour as she had never seen such a busy vibrant school club. Liked the activities we provided, free choice. Said the SEF was comprehensive, liked the fact we were getting views using parenst/childrens questionnaires and actually disagreed where some parents had said there were not enough activities for children!! Our recommendations a…

Hi We're an independant charitable rural pre-school within the grounds of a school. We run a breakfast club for 2-9 year olds from 8-9 am, with pre-school from 9-3pm, followed by afterschool from 3-4 for the pre-school children. The school cannot make their afterschool club pay and it looks like they will be making their staff redundant. They have approached us to see if the after-school club leader could run her own after-school club in our pre-school from 3 pm. I suggested that it would be better (assuming we could cover our costs somehow) if our pre-school ran the club but apparently we would have to employ the outgoing staff on the same rate of pay and p…

Hi all Well the cuts have surprised me yet again! Here in Notts we have advisors for pre-school supervisors, SEN advisors for pre-school, advisors for committee of pre-schools but there is nothing for out of school clubs (mind you I know that there have been cuts here too).I have been in contact with the LEA to see if there is any support for us ie could do with chatting to an advisor about how we do things, staff issues etc etc but apparently they all got made redundant last year. So noone to talk to about the issues that arise at club. Perhaps when club is taken over by school we could just make our own rules up???!! There is no-one now to say if we are doi…

My preschool has been invited to join the streched funding pilot scheme, this means that we can open for more weeks per year and parents of funded children can spread the eye funding over more weeks e.g claim 13 hours per week instead of 15 the remainding hrs covers the cost or part cost of extra weeks (sorry bit complicated) anyway we are thinking about opening an extra few weeks in the summer(open 38 weeks at mo) this news is going down well with the working parents however we need a few more than just the children of those parents to cover costs. my question is should we invite older children? our registration is from 2yrs to under 8 yrs and im sure there would be s…

Hello all I need a bit of advice please. Today I saw the journeys of the reception class and the teacher has put in photographs which include other children. I was a bit taken back as I have always taken photographs angling the camera so that only the child I want is in the photo or I chop the photo to remove any other children. I was a bit shocked to be honest looking at a journal and seeing lots of other children in it. Please can you tell me if I am over reacting or should I as I feel say something about that not being aceptable. Thanks in advance G
