Hi, we are doing the topic 'under the sea' in our Nusery. We have read the rainbow fish, made a rainbow fish, given the children a shiny scale each to take home. Made fish out of paper plates, had a Tuff spot with sand, water and shells in. Had another Tuff spot with tumblers of different coloured water and pipettes. The home corner has various blue fabrics on the ground and is decorated with the paper plate fish. Tomorrow we are making salt dough sea creatures. Do any of you lovely people out there have any more ideas for under the sea, as we would like to run this topic for at least another week. We have a planned dresssing up day with pirates and treasure also.

Hi everyone, It is my class assembly the week before we break up for summer and my theme for this half term is Under the Sea. including pirates, holidays, etc. The assembly lasts for half an hour therefore usually try to act out a simple story to keep things interesting. Have done stories such as Golidlocks, Jasper's beanstalk, etc in the past. However can't think of a simple enough sea/pirate story for the chn to act out (while other chn read the story out). Would really appreciate any ideas. Thanks, p.s. we are looking at the story of the rainbow fish this week and although this would be ideal to act out, our year two class does an assembly on the rainbow f…

Hi all, I teach Rec/Y1 and am being observed by my Head and EY advisor on Monday. This is for Literacy and our theme is Under the Sea. Thanks to some great ideas from here I am sorted for my group activities (we are going to be writing poems and related activities). I have got various resources set up for CI play, including a role play submarine, small world sea creatures in the water tray, shells in the sand tray etc. Just wondered if anyone had any good ideas for any other areas such as sand, play dough, creative area, writing area, construction area. Thanks, Kathryn

Have just been watching a TV programme on Teachers TV and I heard a song that I would like to use but I don't know the words to. Not sure if this is the chorus but it went - The captain said ei ei, The captain said ei ei. Have done a quick google but came up blank. So I thought I would try the real experts on this site.

Water/sea Investigation

Hi I would like to plan an investigation for my nursery children. We are looking at the Commotion in the Ocean book in an under the sea general theme. I looked at the blowing bubbles investigation on here. I thought of maybe extending this with adding oil and food colouring to see if it has an effect. But I am not wowed by it! My other thought was a flaoting andsinking focussed activity? Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks
