Hello, i wondered if anyone could offer some advice. We are due our Ofsted registration visit for our full day outdoor childcare provision-7.30-6.30 and all we have for indoor space is a yurt with electricity. Any tips on what documents to have prepared for registration visit in general would be VERY welcome! Anything specific to outdoor education/nature kindergarten/forest school would be very welcome. Even a simple check list of things to have ready would be useful-I feel like we have so much going on that I cannot keep track of everything so a master list would be great.

Ohhh Ofsted is finally coming to inspect our FS in just over 2 weeks time - all hands to the pump. What will the inspector think of us, no indoor toilets or indoor space, everything outside. Now wading through the paperwork to ensure everything is covered. I hope they bring their wellies!

I have done my forest school training but need to do the 16 hour outdoor first aid course and am finding it really difficult to find one nearish to where I live (Bucks). Does anybody know of any courses that I could access locally (the company that did the training do them but they are in Glos). TIA

We bought some jackets and trouser sets from TTS a couple of years ago..............and they are waterproof, but of quite low quality it turns out. So, we'd like to invest in some decent kit, BUT when i looked at Muddy puddles, the all in ones, which look perfect, are almost £50 each. I do believe that you get what you pay for, but I can't afford 20 sets of these, so any other suppliers you have found to be good.....................but cheaper??

So the main body of our Pre-school closes at the end of next week due to falling numbers. Yet our Forest School survives and has healthy numbers for next term. Is there anyone else out there who offers purely outdoors provision? it would be great to chat with another setting who has gone down this route. Kx

Food for thought while parents are stressing to buy their child the best/newest/most expensive or latest toy this christmas! At pre-school this afternoon in our woodland garden a group of girls and boys spent some time building a campfire collecting sticks and branches pretending to light it and finding logs to sit on around it! A little boy put some 'hot chocolate' on and carefully gave everyone a 'steaming mug of hot chocolate' to drink! we all sat round drinking our chocolatevery carefully and chatting when my 3 year old grandson looks at me and grins and says 'Gramma I feel happy Gramma'!! My heart melted! Just goes to show it is the most simple things in life that …

Well after 8 weeks toing and froing with Ofsted they are finally doing our registration visit today. This really is D-day - is it possible, can we be a pre-school who exists only as a Forest School with no indoor provision at all?!? On a positive note the Inspector didnt sound like she thought we were mad and she did say she'd bring her wellies so at least shes on the right track. Please everyone keep your fingers crossed for us. This is truly a make or break day and will decide whether our village continues to have any community provision and whether our lovely staff will still have jobs tomorrow. I feel quite ill just thinking about it! Paper work is in place, we v…

We have been allowed to develop an out door space it's an enclosed corridor quadrangle of space between two buildings not wide enough to consider bikes and climbing frames but it long enough to put planters and other interesting discovery activities The space it 2 metres wide and 16 metres long with a door at one end and brick walls all around, it's not very pretty so we want to soften the appearance with plants and stuff At present it's surfaced with slabs but alot of them are broken and need replacing but obviously we are wondering what other options to look at I suggested leaving some of the space clear and just put membrane and bark but the other staff sugges…
