Hi everyone Could anyone provide a few ideas on what we could call our forest school type sessions? We aren't forest school trained yet and therefore need another name. We mainly use our natural area under a tree! Thank you.

Hi! I just wondered whether anyone could give me some information. I am starting a new job in September, and the head has asked if i would like to do the forest school training. I have said yes as it has always been of interest to me, however i was just wondering if anyone could tell me what the training consists of? Will i have to do assignments or tests? Will people come and observe me teaching forest school? Hopefully someone will be able to give me a bit of advice! thanks

We are currently choosing a new climbing frame for our revamped outside area and are finding it difficult to make a final decision. I was hoping that the lovely people on here could offer some advice what climbing frame do you have? What are the pros and cons of it? We would like a climbing that is versatile, offers chanlenge and can be changed of adapted to encourage different skills, any advice or recommendations greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi All, I am hoping for some advice please. We are looking to start Forest school sessions soon after half term. We have a site that we are in the process of getting ready and a member of staff undergoing level 3 training. Our children are aged 2 to 4. We will begin by offering one 2 hour session a week for a maximum of 8 children. We will join it onto the end of our lunch club where we will walk the 8 children the short distance to our site. This will also potentially offer one day's full care of 6 hours for a handful of parents. We are a term time only setting so once into September we will expand what we offer. Questions to be answered: Do you need separate…

Hi, I'm hoping to get some funding and create a wonderful outdoor area. One area I'm looking closer at is a nature area/corner for my performance management target. I intend to plant flowers to attract birds insects, logs and bark for bugs. Magnifying glasses for the children to use will be attached to fence close by (this will be continuous provision) then for enhanced - add topic related things i.e. dinosaurs Any one created such an area or have any ideas? thanks Katie x

A Fab Morning!

Just wanted to share my morning! We had a forest school style morning outside today with our children aged 2 to 4. None of us are trained yet but took lots of the ideas apart from fire! The children had made special namecards for themselves to self register this morning to make a distinction that today was a different kind of session. They had collected treasures from outside (leaves, petals, seedheads etc) and laid them on a laminator sheet along with their name. Once laminated we hole punched and threaded with string. The children found theirs this morning when they arrived and hung it on a tree branch (stood in a Christmas tree stand!). It looked gorgeous! The…

Hi, How great to see a forest school section! This is just a little note to say that there is information on INSET sessions and outdoor ed related training here from Kent County Council. https://shareweb.kent.gov.uk/Documents/leis...ning%20days.pdf There are more courses after Christmas and also a BTEC Level 3 Advanced Forest School leader course at the end of March run by Bridgwater College.
