As a room leader (or a line manager / setting owner) how much autonomy is there for setting up the room, deciding what areas / resources are in it and how its laid out? I have been steadily trying to create an environment that supports independence and to introduce more of a continuous provision approach. My line manager was, still is so far as I can tell, very positive about this and things were going well…Ofsted went well about a year ago and the children are flourishing. However I keep having to start over to maintain this as out of the blue the layout the room is reorganised or even changed back to a previous incarnation Ive since moved on from - alw…

It's been a bit of a tricky day and I was feeling a little like wallowing in mud instead of darting about a pond I think it's going to be a tricky week ahead so I'm going to try and think of something that made me smile each day. If anyone would like to join to help get us through the last couple of weeks before the holidays that would be lovely. So my smiles for today... I hung my washing on the line outside for the first time this year Tesco had reduced their bunches of daffodils to 10p each (I can't seem to get bulbs to grow in my garden and I love daffodils) The taste of freshly made kedgeree - I haven't eaten that in ages!

Before anyone gets overexcited I am not mentioning the C word. Apologies in advance if the 'A-word' I am about to mention causes offence! I could do with some ideas. My whole family (parents, brother and sister and their wife/husband and my three nieces and nephew) had clubbed together to get it for me as a total surprise. The message in the card was so sweet it reduced me to tears and still makes me feel emotional thinking about it. For a whole host of reasons which I won't share publicly it was…

Hi, I've realised of late that I don't use the forum as much as I used to and that maybe the time has come to bow out. Most of my interactions are via direct messages!! I have loved being part of this community and sharing my experience and knowledge particularly in things related to assessment, but coming from a school background there seems to be fewer conversations where I feel I have something relevant to offer so I've decide not to renew my subscription this year. I've been kicking around here for 15 years and that feels like a good anniversary to reach. I have been developing my writing career (picture books) alongside my education job and now ha…

we have a child with us (expected asd) who's loves to watch things falling - he spends long periods pouring sand , rice etc through sand/water wheel and things through tubes etc., I would love to extend this to allow him to actually watch the objects fall so am looking for clear tubing wide enough for him to drop things like ping pong balls etc - I have looked everywhere but can't find wide tubing - I know someone on here will know where I can get some. Any ideas please?
