Just wanted to share because it's nice to have a good day too. Last day of school for me for a week and I have to say my children are really tired - lots of poorlies and teetering on the brink of tears! Anyway, this morning we made soup for a doubling activity - they had a recipe card for 'Soup for 1' which said things like 2 bits of carrot, 3 bits of celery but they had to make it for themselves and a partner so they had to double to find how to put in. They really enjoyed it but we didn't get to cook and taste until the afternoon. All tasted it and most didn't like it but 3 came back for seconds and thirds and 2 girls took the recipe to copy so they could make it…

I've just had a bonfire. When I came in the house one of the cats was waiting to go out, so I opened the door and said 'be careful down the garden, I've had a fire'. I shut the door and as so often happens, realised she wont understand a word of it. I do it to the ferrets too 'why have you pooed there?' 'Now you've spilt the water 'I think I said NO!'. Are we nuts or is it likely to be the best conversation we'll have some days?

...finishing my planning, making resources, writing up my students first assessment, finding a plasterer, annotating some observations, collecting assessment data for my head and cleaning the dining room. Instead I invented a new cake, bought the ingredients, made it and am now having a cup of tea and lurking on here while it cooks! (It's a cross between a cheesecake, lemon meringue pie and a bakewell tart just in case you're interested - cheesecake base, lemon middle and bakewell topping). Anyone else 'playing' or are you all being productive and doing your 'should' list?

I have a male 21 year old playworker who works in our out of school club for 9 hours a week. He is really good with the children and with previous sports coaching experience the boys love playing outside with him. However after a week when we have all thought about GCSE Maths and English for staff I thought I would share this with you. Last week we were preparing an area for the children to do woodwork in and whilst I copied up the risk assessment we had done with the children to display on the wall he offered to do a poster for the area. I came back 10 minutes later and he had left to help collect the children from school and I spotted his poster. Which I quote direc…
