Remember the young girl who was shot in the head by the Taliban because she wants an education? Her father has just been on the news and he said this ' When you educate a girl, you educate the whole family, you educate a generation, you educate all other coming children and I think that a mothers lap is like a smart school' I thought that was wonderful, both his thoughts and the fact he will say them on TV when even in Birmingham there are people who think girls shouldn't have the same rights as boys. Malala seem's t be doing really well too, which is superb news :1b

...if you had made a subject access request on behalf of your child under the Data Protection Act to the school they attend and you're pretty sure they haven't sent you a lot of the information they have on file? I asked for everything held on any file in or for the school including but not limited to electronically held, handwritten and printed information, emails, minutes of meetings, informal notes, etc. Should I assume they have shredded things they don't want to share with me? The whole school ethos seems to be 'make it look like you're doing your job and lie through your teeth if anyone notices anything untoward'.

I came across this when I was googling gun play. I wonder if I should print it off and stick it on the window at playgroup??! More Children Being Diagnosed With Youthful Tendency Disorder Day after day, upon arriving home from preschool, Caitlin would retreat into a bizarre fantasy world. Sometimes, she would pretend to be people and things she was not. Other times, without warning, she would burst into nonsensical song. Some days she would run directionless through the garden of their comfortable home, laughing and shrieking as she chased imaginary objects. When months of sessions with a local psychologist failed to yield an answer, Nicholas and Beverly took Ca…

I have spent a couple of days out of setting this week for training and must say it was nice to be away - today I sent one member of staff home as she was unwell and is always so supportive - i needed to give the same back - only 8 children and 3 staff and had a really productive and enjoyable time with the children . by the the time the children had gone I was feeling frustrated at certain staff members and lack of logic , common sense - one in particular very very slow and seems to forget where everything goes - so I went through the procedures with both of them but came home feeling a little vexed, only to open an email from a parent whose kind words reminded me why I…

Hi everyone I'm sure that there is someone on the FSF that is from Dubai, does anyone know if I'm right. One of my staff is doing an FD unit on alternative curriculum and as we have a child who has been living in Dubai she is getting the parent perspective but would really like a practitioners view point. If anyone knows who it is I would love to see if they would be willing to give me an email contact address. Thank you

I would like to buy a spiral binder, but have a very tight budget at the moment.......any one know a good brand and where to buy one?? Just think it would make documents etc look more 'polished' than stapling or plastic wallets etc. I just know some one will rise to the challenge!
