Help - Oliver's Milkshake
by Guest- 2 replies

Hi Was expecting my new copy of the story Oliver's Milkshake to be delivered today but the stupid delivery company have returned it to their depot as no-one was home to take the delivery. £16 worth of water filters get chucked over the back gate, £100 worth of stereo got left in the grandparents bin but a £5 book now needs a 12 mile round trip to be collected...don't get me started! I needed to look through it tonight to see which fruits are used to make the milkshakes in the story so I could order the fruit to come in my shopping delivery, but now have no book to look at! Do any of you knowledgeable folk know which fruit are included in the story by any chance??

In our outdoor area we have a section which is the black stuff that doesn't hurt you if you fall on it (in theory) and in summer our climbing frame is on it. In winter it's a bit of a nuisance. We usually have big blocks and balance beams on it, but in very cold weather it's the slippiest part of the playground ( other than our 6ft square of decking!!) and requires heavy gritting if normal ice. On Monday when it was snowy it was fine to go on, but it's now covered in thick, solid ice and as the temp stayed below freezing all day, it's showing no sign of going. We don't feel it's safe to be out on sheet ice, but can't block access to it. Our caretaker tells me it's cos…

So where have 'my' lovely confident, capable children gone........sent them all off for their Christmas break.........only to have them replaced by 'aliens'!  Honestly we always notice that some have taken a 'backward step' or two after a break - but goodness me, nothing like this morning...... Some have forgotten........ How to speak and have communicated with 'looks' and gestures....... How to say yes please or no thank you - these pleasantries have been replaced with nodding or shaking of heads........ How to listen to a group story without shuffling backwards and forwards and or generally poking their neighbours....... Where/how…

As 2012 comes to a close I am aware that for me it has brought professional and personal highs and lows, some of which were unexpected and unwanted. My family friends and I started the year with a big fancy dress party to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. It was a wonderful night that I constantly think of because after that life threw up some not so nice things. My best friends dad died and another childhood friend was told she had ovarian cancer in early February. I had surgery early in March for a lump that I was told time and time again was nothing. 37 stitches in my face and a diagnosis of cancer almost makes me smile because all I was really worried …
