Two advisors one welfare one education came to playgroup today. We thought I'd be there for half an hour or so while they looked at the business plan I'd finished this morning. Oh, how wrong can you be? The welfare lady started by bombarding the manager with questions relating to safeguarding. The whole afternoon was worse than any Ofsted inspection I've ever known or heard about. Mrs Welfare was quite stroppy and I dont mind telling you I have no deep and positive feelings about the woman. Mrs Education was calmer, drawing out the answers in an encouraging way. Mrs W wasnt too happy that I have to get the committee together in order to look over the policies and proc…

I was in love at 13 with a lad I remember having beautiful brown eyes and dark wavy hair. I loved him for years (months). He was older than me but we knocked about together in our group. Such wonderful memories. I just saw his picture on FB at a friends friends party. He's changed, as have we all, but my memory bubble has been burst!

I just opened an email from a work colleague offering some ICT advice about the submission of students' assignments. After all the technical stuff, he said he'd attached his submission as if it was a real assignment. Here's what he sent! I am tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8-year-old again. I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant. I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a crossing with rocks. I want to think Smarties are better than money because you can eat them. I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends …

It's been a long week; my first year teaching students started - lovely but a bit intense being watched and questioned for 5 days in a row, my brilliant morning TA was off sick for 2 days - am worried about her but she also does my PPA so I missed it - normally not a problem and I might if I'm lucky get a little extra next week but I could really have done with some time today. A different member of staff whom my thoughts about really don't bear repeating. Then to cap it all one of my boys who admittedly is a bit of a flitter said "Why aren't we doing any spotty day stuff?" My jaw drops open. We had Pudsey games on the computer, did colour mixing to paint spotty bandanas…

The following questions were set in last year's GED examination These are genuine answers (from 16 year olds)............and they WILL breed. Q. Name the four seasons A. Salt, pepper, mustard and vinegar Q. Explain one of the processes by which water can be made safe to drink A. Flirtation makes water safe to drink because it removes large pollutants like grit, sand, dead sheep and canoeists Q. How is dew formed A. The sun shines down on the leaves and makes them perspire Q. What causes the tides in the oceans A. The tides are a fight between the earth and the moon. All water tends to flow towards the moon, because there is no water on the moon, and…

Do we all cry 'more easily'? Not that I have a problem with this at all - but I don't think that we have got through a whole week this year without me having to comfort a parent who is in tears - I hasten to add here that none of the tears have been in anyway related to pre-school....... Some of the recent events have been - a marriage break up - builders doing a lousy job - family illness.......all completely valid reasons for a weep........ Anyone else finding that they have to provide a shoulder to cry on far more often these days?
