my grandson's nursery has just THREE (tatty) books on a shelf....................my daughter, who was bothered by this, questioned why and was told it is Ofsted rules to have only three books on any shelf, they must be pointing foward and not touching each other,It is also good practice to photocopy the cover of the book and put it on the shelf so the children know where it goes! has anyone else been told this??

I love this - anyone got any to add? If I like it, it’s mine If it’s in my hand, it’s mine If I can take it from you, it’s mine If it’s mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way If I had it a little while ago, its mine If I’m doing or building something, all the pieces are mine If it looks like it’s mine, its mine If I think it’s mine, its mine Even if I am playing with something else, it’s still mine

Hi but found this on 'mumsnet' (I need a life!!) It's a government commission on making childcare affordable - thought it may be of interest to peeps There are some interesting views posted - personally I would like to see it starting with sorting out the Tax credit fraud around false child care claims; that should free up a few million! http://www.mumsnet.c...dable-childcare (Sorry, seem to have lost the ability to put the link into one word...hope it's ok to link to other sites - the document is a pdf so wasn't sure if it would link)

Hello All, It’s been a while since I have been on, but I thought this topic was the ideal one to start back with, as I need some advice on how to go about this and evidence to back up my proposal to my boss. Moving forward with technology and the ICT we offer the children within setting, I suggested to my boss that I thought it would be beneficial if we had an iPad on site for the children to use. As if they were doing a specific topic they could download pictures/videos etc, and recently after a trip to Spain I downloaded an app that speaks in both English and Spanish on my iPad which would be good for the EAL children as they do the app in other languages for FREE!…

Well today has finally arrived. For those of us that have family and friends in the opening know how hard everybody has worked for this once in a lifetime event.. I am of course incredibly proud of my own daughter Hannah who is dancing but also everyone that is taking part. I had the privilege to go and see the dress rehearsal and without giving anything away it does truly reflect our great country. Good luck everyone. Xxxxx

This may seem like a totally off the wall post but I felt I had to share with someone, and you guys are it!!! I was just sat outside near our garden pond taking onboard some sunshine, and for a few minutes I just felt totally still and calm and serene It truly was stillness. I can't recall feeling that before. It was so wonderful. I am presuming that I feel it was extraordinary because I don't recall the last time my head was empty of thoughts about surgery, or cancer, or work or the children. . . . . There was nothing in my head. Or at least it felt that way momentarily. Golly it was good not to think about anyone or anything. Maybe …

So it's the time of year for making up registers, and seeing some unusual names This coming year we have a Tiana (Tee-anna), Tienner (Tee-enna), Tyana (Tie-anna) and Ianna (Eee-anna) for goodness sake! A Mia and a Meya and some unusual names - Regan (girl) Fallon, Layton (boy), Kalan (boy, pronounced as if it had a double L), Kai, Millie, Alfie (2 of those!) Louis, Louie, Mischa, Solomon to name but a few! Anyone else got some different ones this time?

Wasn't sure where to post this..... but just wanted to say - Please note that the dosage limits have been reduced for giving Calpol to under 10's. Gave to my daughter at 4 o'clock in the morning after a trip to Tescos - and it was only afterwards that I noticed that box said 'new dosage' - not very clear!!!! Please check carefully....
