Did anyone else go to this yesterday?? First show of its kind I have ever attended, and I really enjoyed it. It was good to be able to see, feel and try out equipment before buying anything. Only downside was that it was very crowded, but the wonderful upside was meeting some of the staff from my favourite company, Community Playthings, genuinely super-friendly. AND, they sold me some of their display items for a whopping 20% discount! ( I had to phone hubby and one of my daughters to come to help takeit all away . So, a new set of mini blocks, a new set of larger blocks and a new set of hollow blocks to add to what we already have. I also bought several other things, co…

Hope I'm posting in the right area, please feel free to move. The daughter of our chair of committee had an accident on Monday where she was running in our paved area and fell over- not putting her hands out- she fell on her nose. Result bloody nose and scrape from browbone to top lip. Mum was called and by the time she arrived child was sitting down having lunch. Mum signed the accident sheet and all seemed well. Well as if we didn't already know it the world is mad! I see that a pub in somewhere or other is supposed to change its name and the name of drinks etc. because they are all from the Hobbit, our good old British literary marvellous Hobbit, from that wonderful chap Tolkien! Apparently it is a copyright infringement. http://www.telegraph...it-pub-row.html i know a boat company that has named all it's narrow boats after characters from Tolkien this could run and run!

if you have about 20 mins this may be worth a watch... The child-driven education thought provoking about how children learn, and retain information.. Sugata Mitra's "Hole in the Wall" experiments have shown that, in the absence of supervision or formal teaching, children can teach themselves and each other, if they're motivated by curiosity and peer interest.
