anyone else watching this and thinking they could never do this job? watched the 2 programmes so far and in between did a CP day .. it did come into the discussion as we are based in local area and it raised many points during the discussions.. more info does explain how it was legally possible to make these programmes. I have been involved in the reporting, conferences and eventual removal of children from a practitioners side more than once unfortunately so do feel for the people who have the direct contact , mine was just reporting.. could not do the other side.. well worth a look if very interesting and disturbing viewing..

Hi, just wondered whether anyone received this lot of snow forecast over the weekend yet, it would appear from the met office that the south east will get it this evening some time, just thought it would be fun to track its progress down the country from north west to south east!

I've just been on facebook and noticed that one of the preschool parents has posted a picture of their son, aged just 3, sitting holding his Dad's gun, looking along the sight and aiming, fingers on the trigger, with the words underneath 'I love my Dad's new gun'. (a big rifle with sight on top) Feel very uncomfortable about it - am I over-reacting?

Do we have a golden moments thread on the forum because I would like to add my Golden Moment to it!! Sometimes we are so caught up in paperwork and politics that its all too easy to forget why we do this job but its the 'Golden Moments' that bring us back to reality and keep us smiling..... So this is my Golden Moment I would like to share with you all... From September my children have been passionate about superheroes; drawing them, painting them, role playing them - you name it - so it was only fair that this terms topic should be all about wearing our pants over our trousers! When we sat down together to plan we asked the children if there were any trips …

I'm showing everyone this guys work. Incredible is the only word I can find for it. I saw some of Leonardo Da Vinci's works yesterday and while they're very good these, (people in the art world are dropping as I type ) I think these are better. Mark Powell, artist I just keep going back to them. Enjoy

Has anyone else seen this site and bought something from it? I have just purchased the basket full of very lovely resources and wanted to let you know about it. It's run by teenagers, under a Youth Enterprise scheme. They have been extremely polite and helpful when I contacted them and the basket arrived very quickly. The children quickly started using all the lovely materials int he pack. I know that the items could be found and assembled yourself, but I wanted to support this group ( I saw an article in Nursery World about it, and decided to have a look!). Anyway, I'm pleased: the basket is a Community Playthings one and the drawstring bag that comes inside it is beaut…

I'm currently the Acting Manager in the preschool I've worked in since 1999, because the previous manager passed away suddenly in December. I'm filling in my application for the manager post & have got stuck when I get to referees - who do I put? I can't put the previous manager who would have been the ideal person to give me a reference as we'd worked together all that time :-( There is no other person working in the setting who I could ask to be a referee. I have my tutor from when I was at uni, but I haven't been back to uni since May 2011 so will need to phone the uni & leave a message to check that's ok (ie, is she still at the uni!) & I want…
