Hi everyone, I start my first teaching block on Monday in a reception class. I am just doing my planning and one area says cross curricular links. Now I am planning on supporting the children to write a caption for the photographs that we took the day before of the garage role play area. Such as book in here or general labels, petrol. When they have finished I am planning on laminating them with the children so that they can go outside in the role play area and stay up. My thought was is the use of a laminator classed as ICT or am I really clutcing at straws? I am relating it to point 7 on the profile: Finds out about and identifies use of everyday technology. Oh a…

Just had the AGM. Myself, playleader, deputy, 3 staff, one parent. Would it be possible to have an AGM by post? Could we send out nominations and notes asking if current committee are staying on, finances, playleader report, chair report and all the things they need to know and ask for replies, comments, feedback. We could type up all the comments, send out any replies. Could we call it a postal AGM? They have one more chance, pub next week, 7.30.

I have ideas for mark making in the continuous provision but am struggling for small group focused activities and a whole class input. any ideas anyone?????? thanks kate

Hi everybody. Some of you will, hopefully, remember me as a moderator. I have not been on the forum for some time now for a few reasons. I retired from pre-school and sold it on in August. I have to say that it is one of the best decisions I have ever made-just love being retired!! Our daughter Carrie was married in May and, I hope, I have attached photographs. She and her husband, Dave, are expecting their first baby in February. I am so looking forward to being a grandma. I hope you are all well-I miss the forum. Linda

Just posting in case anyone else is in the same position and has gone through the relevant research: My unpleasant and entirely unsuitable son has just passed his driving test at the age of 17. I've just obtained my first quote to add him as a named driver on a small Vauxhall Corsa car that I own. This came out at £6,500 which hasn't endeared me to him any more than you might expect! Has anyone got any recommendations for me to get insurance quotes from? The first person to recommend a company that quotes me less than £10 will receive an extremely large Mars bar through the post.

OK so some of you will be aware that since I'm not going to nursery every day any more, I'm spending more time at home during the day. Cue a couple of silent calls each morning, followed by calls from a very helpful Microsoft Certified Engineer, who has diagnosed that my laptop has hidden within its hard drive many dangerous viruses that threaten my future livelihood and freedom. Luckily for me they have just the thing to remove these nasty pieces of code from my computer. Now I know that Microsoft don't call you up at home to tell you that you have a problem with your computer, much less that Windows is in fact causing this terrible disease to spread through the na…

Here's the scenario: we are in a building that is on the edge of local playing field. Groundsman has been instructed not to cut the grass within 10 feet of the footpath that runs alongside our building, as it flicks up sharp stones that are like flints ( razor sharp!), we actually keep the children indoors while he cuts the grass, as he chooses to ignore the instructions, I think because he enjoys upsetting us..................he is aware that when he first started doing it, one of the stones actually cut the face of a member of staff when it flew up and hit her. We went to see the parish council last week, as the groundsman has now taken to mowing within inches of our…
